Bobby Bonilla speaking to sportswriter Bob Klapisch circa 1992

Bonilla:Oh, look who's here, you fuck. Why don't you suck my dick? But, hey, don't take it personally.Go ahead, Bobby(Klapisch), make your move. I know you're feeling the itch. Make your move. Cause I'll hurt you.

Klapisch:Are you threatening me?

Bonilla:Whatever. It's like the home boys say back home, We just chillin.' Make your move.

Klapisch:You want to fight me?

Bonilla:I'll show you the Bronx right here.

They run this clip in the "Steve Garvey Fishing/Bobby Bonilla Bowling" episode of Cheap Seats on ESPN Classic, & it cracks me up everytime.

I'm gonna make a T-shirt w/ Bonilla on it, and "Make Your Move" under it, with this whole motherfucker on the back. this rules.

I would buy a shirt like this.

D, I agree with you that he is a stunning talent but, IMO, to say that steroids can't help your performance in baseball is LAUGHABLE.

Also, it has become such a joke that it has lost meaning, but, the whole "I didn't know what I was taking" excuse is probably the lamest statement in the history of pro sports.

...well....other than Spreewell's "I got ta feed my family" comment.

Especially since if you ask anyone who has ever been associated with him they'll tell you that he is a fucking tight-ass about his workouts, his body, and what he puts in it. And he "Didn't know"? Ooooookaaaaayy.

i can believe that he put a cream on that he didn't know was steroids. not so much a pill or injection.

Cheap Seats rules. I love the old wrestling and rodeo footage that they rip to shit. What a great idea for a show.

"MAN GUM"

Also, Barry Bonds sucks. It made my 2003 season as a fan of the lowly, shitty Reds to heckle him from my seats in left at Great American.

Two words for you, Barry:

SID BREAM!!!!!!

it's funny, i meet guys like bonds in the music/arts biz all the time and ya know what? they're portrayed as stand-offish, arrogant, difficult, and uncompromising artists who refuse to play by xyz/the media's rules. they'll get a New Yorker piece if they last long enough, the implicit respect for their art-in-spite-of-character-flaws is so complete and consistent.

but hey, if you're a ballplayer, better get your smile on and be nice to everyone, else WATCH OUT, 'cause the media WILL get you.

i mean, what's the deal here? for all we know, MJ was/is a worse character than Bonds, but he knew when to smile and act the part...

also, as for the steroids thing, i really don't consider that a factor in my appreciation/non-appreciation of bonds, other than in the following manner: if it's proven he was using illegal substances, asterixes away!

but, it provides less fodder for my character assassination when "60-70%" of the league was juicing at the same time. if i have to think less of bonds for using, then the same goes for the majority of players in the steroiod epoch.

The funny thing about Bonilla is that when he came to NY he was told by the press how tough the media can be in the Big Apple and his response was-"You guys won't be able to knock the smile off my face."

That didn't last too long.

I didn't like Jordan either.

I think in music it's supposed to be part of the image. Of course there are exceptions like Ryan Adams who's arrogant and stand-offish and because of that, no one likes him.

The really disgusting thing about all this is now Barry thinks he's being persectued like Aaron was...which isn't just ridiculous - it's downright offensive. Somebody should punch him in his big juicehead for even entertaining the notion.

And BTW - the Garvey/Bonilla episode of "Cheap Seats" is running this weekend. Consult yer local listings, as they say.

Well, Mr. Burns had done it.
The power plant had won it,
with Roger Clemens clucking all the while.
Mike Scioscia's tragic illness made us smile,
while Wade Boggs laid unconscious on the ballroom tile.
We're talking softball:
from Maine to San Diego.
We're talking softball:
Mattingly and Canseco,
Ken Griffey's grotesquely swollen jaw,
Steve Sax and his run-in with the law;
we're talking Homer....
....Ozzie and the Straw.

Not so fast, my friend. I had a shirt made with Lyndon Johnson on it that says "If you can't drink theri liquor, take their money, screw their women and vote against 'em in the morning, you're in the wrong damn business"

a shirt that has a picture of Ron Wood that says "What Year Is It"?

And I made a shirt with Billy Clinton on it that said: "I have existed from the morning of the world, and I will exist until the last start falls from the heavens. And although I have taken the form of Gaius Caligula, I am all men, as I am no man, and so I am a God" but it fell apart.

My basic M.O. is Picture, plus cool quote = Cool T shirt.
