Gmail stinks. I've tried it and it's a fucking pain in the ass. Plus it's creepy how they monitor your mails and stick related ads next to the mail.

Hotmail rawks. I've had more probs w/ Gmail in one week than I had in the years w/ Hotmail. And now I can't access it- just get a page that sez "loading".

(Sorry for the attitude- a truck was late so I had to spend an hour after work unloading it. Boo fucking hoo, right?)

fp

And oh yeah, the Google customer "service" sucks.

Clear your cache, and maybe your cookies, and it should work.

Or I might not know what I'm talking about.

I think they are very close to officially releasing gmail to the public, hence the gazillion invites.

Gmail don't 'read' your e-mails anymore than any other e-mail service does.

There are probably tens if not hundreds of millions of gmails sent everyday so the idea that the e-mails are being read by people with magnifiying glasses and trilby's who then type up a Top Secret Report and stick it in a filing cabinet is all a bit silly.

All they do is scan the e-mails for 'key words' and then target advertising relating to that key word. For instance a while ago I sent an e-mail to Aaron saying how much I disliked umbrellas. Google picked up the keyword "Umbrella" and then sent lots of umbrella advertising my way. This dispite me saying how much I hated umbrellas in the e-mail!

That's how sophisticated their monitoring is. It's very much a sort of "if you fire enough buckshot you'll eventually hit a duck" approach.

Anyway I don't mind people reading my e-mails. There brilliant.

I don't even notice the ads anymore. They are like the ads in a google search result - not very obtrusive.
