Jordan Jesse Go! (I'm on the outs with this one)
The Sound of Young America
Morning Becomes Eclectic
Democracy Now!
The Economist
This American Life (hardly listen to them much anymore though unless Sarah Vowell pops up)
boingboing
like 3 or 4 KEXP ones
iFanboy

I used to listen to a whole lot more, but I ended up getting sick of them and dropping them.

Also, if you look under "Arts" on iTunes podcasts, you'll see a bunch of radio shows.

this is so funny bc I just spent a really long time looking at them the other night. I can't deal with the subway unless I have something to focus on. Not just music but a solid narrative.

slate is a tradition for some of us!
(no gabfest for me, bugs me)
This American Life
Sexy Beijing (video, this is awesome)
Some meditation ones
a 12 step-based one
Fresh Air

This American Life
Slate Daily
Car Talk
NPR Economy
NPR World Story Of The Day
NPR Business Story Of The Day
NPR All Songs Considered ( = VERY hit or miss)

and if you have any interest whatsoever in China and business, I cannot recommend enough Technomic Asia's "China Business Blog and Podcast." It's a good mix of informative and witty. I'm not really working on anything for over there, but it's pretty entertaining to hear what's going on there every week.

no SHIT. If 5 of those listed were 1 hour podcasts, and the other 20 were only 15 minutes on average (generous), this would take exactly ten hours to listen to, every week. 2 hours a day at work?

i do a Bill O'reilly one, it's the first ten minutes of his radio show and it's plenty.

a few NPR ones
CD Baby - talks about DYI musician stuff
KEXP - song of the day, usually has the kind of stuff we talk about that i've never heard

at work
on the train
in bed
while shoveling
while shopping

I have a LOT of free time on my hands. Also, a lot of those don't update regularly and the Slate/Grammar Girl podcasts are all 3-5 minutes long.

I listen to this one, too - but I'm only up to about Episode 30. Is it about to turn shitty or somethin'?

Others :

Several baseball podcasts
Some C-SPAN stuff
The Cold Bath ( political )
Guys With Feelings ( comedy )
Never Not Funny ( comedy - hilarious, & my favorite podcast )
The Sound Of Young America
Real Time w/Bill Maher ( they make the whole show available for free, surprisingly )
The Rock & Roll Geek Show
Slate's Political Gabfest
Couple things from WNYC

Now keep in mind that I don't listen to EVERY episode of all of these, & that I have a job where I can listen to stuff all nite.

I don't know how far they are now... but keep an ear out for my call about moving across country. Somewhere around 35 or so.

I dunno, it's still funny, it's just they've gotten really erratic and they run a lot longer now, which doesn't work well for me. I dunno, it might just be me and the one other person I know that listens to it, but we've both decided that there's been a noticeable decline as of late, but you've still got like 15 episodes before that sets in.

and it definitely could be me just getting sick of it, because on their forums people still love it so I don't know.

It's funny we're talking about this, because the last couple of shows I tried to listen to, I gave up about 60% of the way. I think they'd be much better served with a 45-ish minute running time.

And the C-SPAN podcasts I mentioned are just audio-only versions of some of their weekend programming.

Does anyone have any more recent podcast recommendations?

A podcast I've been enjoying lately is A Life Well Wasted. It's a This American Life style podcast about video games.
