What is this film of which you speak? I do not think we have heard about it.

Heh. Yeah, when I posted this I hadn't read the entire thread. I thought about editing it after I looked back and saw the other 2 dozen references to this but figured I'd leave it as is.

Lately I've seen:

Faces - Probably the best Cassavetes film I've seen so far. Highly recommended.

Gozu - The sixth Miike film I've seen, and by far the most fucked up. Like a David Lynch movie on drugs. Entirely awesome.

In the Realm of the Senses - Also pretty fucked up, but a decent movie overall.

I saw Straight Time last week. Thought it was decent but had hoped for more based on the stellar cast (Dustin Hoffman, Gary Busey, Harry Dean Stanton, M. Emmet Walsh, Kathy Bates, Theresa Russell).

Saw the US Premiere of O homem que desafiou o Diabo which i thought was pretty great.

The lead character was a monger of the finest order.

i have been watching so many movies, probably about 8-10 a week. some ones that ive liked...

L' Iceburg - cute, quirky, script is spare, the scenes are very deliberate, visually creative

He Was a Quiet Man - i sat down to watch this with the intention that I would just watch the first 30 mins. I got drawn in and it was a surprisingly good film

michael clayton - i am a sucker for these types of movies. it was def entertaining.

motorcycle diaries - i saw it for the first time a few months ago and i am ready to see it again.

god grew tired of us - a great documentary

under the sun - a sweet swedish love story. i dug the main guy in the film. he was so earnest.

uhhh...i know there are more....

The Other Boleyn Girl-
the Tudors is way better. Eric Bana is a crappy Henry VIII. Too wussy.
bad casting. They skip large periods of time. Scarlett AND Natalie both suck. I know my English history between 1500 and 1700 backwards and forwards now though.

Downfall- Trudi Junge, Hitler's secretary's account of the last days in his bunker in Berlin. 4 stars!

Cruisin' - Pacino. Gay bars. LOL!

Watched Ghostbusters yesterday, which I DVR'd off HD Net Movies. The first (and only other) time I watched it was 20 years ago, and the Stay-Puft Marshmallow Man isn't nearly as scary as he was back then.

Just watched 30 Days of Night and was pleasantly surprised. Pretty good acting and didn't pull any punches.

I'm in the middle of watching Hitman. It's like a poor man's Bourne Identity/Supremacy/Ultimatum. Timothy Olyphant isn't very believable as a badass either. Desmond from Lost is in it for about 10 minutes and T-Bag from Prison Break is in it too. Best part of the movie is the girl, Olga Kurylenko, who is also the new Bond girl.

Spring Break, so what is there to do except work, sleep, watch movies?

1) Lady in the Water (better than everyone says)
2) Hot Fuzz (as good as everyone says)
3) The Fountain (not as good as everyone says)
4) Little Miss Sunshine (I like it)

Probably others... not sure what all I've caught on the television.

I thought he was pretty good as a bad ass in Deadwood.

i've never seen deadwood. i should correct that.

actually, scratch what i said. he's okay in the role but the hand to hand fighting scenes look really stiff and awkward.

tho chicks are throwing themselves at him and he's like totally retarded as to what to do.

I fucking loved Deadwood. But he was the worst part about it. I wouldn't call him a good actor.

but yeah, Shiv, you should correct that. That series so so fucking rife with blood and treachery it's amazing. Probably the best villain/antihero that has ever appeared on the small screen.

I got two good ones

Carandiru - About a giant prison in Sao Paulo that experianced a bloody riot in the early 90's. The film introduces characters as they go to see the doctor in the prison & then they tell the doctor their story & it flashes back to the events of how they landed in prison.

Gadjo Dilo (Trailer not safe for work) directed by Tony Gatlif who did Latcho Drom. Paris resident Stephane is obsessed with finding this gypsy singer he has a tape of, so he travels to Romania & meets up with this gypsy man who's on a drinking binge because his son was just locked up. The man puts him up & shows him off. Fish out of water with a love story twist ensues.

i saw dan in real life yesterday. it wasn't all that funny except for one really goofy line that made me laugh but i don't think it was really supposed to be a comedy. it was decent though.
