mine has a volume knob and a knob for controlling the subwoofer; its just convenient as shit because it is right beside the mouse and i am a constant volume raiser/lowerer and sub adjuster with the phone ringing/trying to work and play etc.

P.S. I'll take some photos of my airtunes system and post them in a bit chase so you can see what i got goin here.

i've seen that airtunes thing in the store and i like what i see, but yeah, some practical application shots might push me over the edge. like our shithole apartment needs this, but still. i want to watch the ncaa tourney on my front porch and mock the homeless on the street below.

Ok, this should be a trainwreck: The airtunes is pictured at right has a network cable coming from my router as an input and an optical output that goes into the receiver pictured on the rack. The good thing about the airtunes is that it acts as its own wireless router so I now have 2(!). It is really cool though because Dave has a mac and I have 2 PC's, but we both use iTunes and there is never a problem with switching or recoginizing shit. There is a box on iTunes that you change from "My Computer" to "Base Station" depending on which output source you want to use.

The box on the bottom of the rack is a four way switch box.

The surround speakers are internally wired and use these "outlets"

The outdoor speakers are internally wired using the same principle as the indoor surround speakers but can be switched on and off with the switchbox pictured above. This is the right side front porch speaker. I also have the flexibility to add two more sets of speakers wherever I can install them (i'm thinking bathroom :D )

Thanks, I'll be paying for it for the next 144 years; but (the nervous breakdown aside) it was pretty fun to build.

We just bought a new house over the weekend (well, coughed up earnest money, but we still need to obtain mortgage approval), so I OBVIOUSLY need you to come wire me for sound, CK!

Thanks for the congrats, but we still have to get approved for a mortgage, and even in these buyer-friendly times, we are about the worst credit risk Texas has seen since Mr. and Mrs. Billy Sol Estes.
