I have been thinking about this lately and it’s about time to do it again. I thought we did the last one in 2004 but just accessed my old list and reads Created: December 04, 2003.

The last time we did this I learned more about music than at any other time in my life. It’s the best thing the old CMJ board had ever done. When those lists started to show up, I felt like it revealed the person behind those user names like never before.

So what do you in Obner land think? Are you ready to do a list of your all-time favorite 100 albums? The whole reason for doing it again is because my list has changed drastically because of Listmania. If so than WhineyCMJ, since it’s your baby, are you willing to do this all over again? If he’s not willing to do it because it’s not on CMJ or just doesn’t want to be bothered, than whom? Since I brought it up I would be more than willing to do this. Compiling it shouldn’t be too hard, as I have yet to master Excel. I have a few idea’s to make it even better like having Haq opening up a Listmania forum, expanding the overall list and adding a whole lot of extra packets of information.

I'd like to see an other Listmania one day, but not now. It's far to soon since the last one.

One of two things would happen. We would get a list that's almost exactly the same as the last one or people would think "I picked these albums last time, I'd better pick different ones". Either way it's pointless.

It's only 5 years until 2010. Let's hold off until then.

Interesting, and I’m thinking annually which might be too much. Thus the reason why I asked for opinions.

I don’t think, however, that it would be too similar. Manly because Obner has taken on a life of it’s own with quite a few different people than we had at CMJ. Another thing, which I mentioned already, my list has changed a lot because of the first one, so even my list would be drastically different.

Keep it coming!

For the same reasons Darrin gave. Besides, we just had Shmoo's list. And if you'd really like to learn about "the person behind those user names like never before", a suggestion might be to ask 'em personally to provide you a list -- a Top 10 or 25.

Yeah, I can't see my list changing too much, other than the rankings after the top 20. Maybe a half-dozen new inclusions, not much more than that.

I really don't need another reminder that collectively we consider Radiohead to have produced several albums greather than Funhouse.

I don't think I could come up with 100 artists I like enough to put in my top 100. After the first 30 or so, it would just be people who I like one album of.

Fuck, why don't we do MOVIES?!!? I think this would be as illustrative of people's tastes as the music one...and would turn us all on to movies much like the original did for Bee in music.

I mean, it ain't like there's rules that say all we talk is music here. ;)

I don't blame you. I have no respect for a man that can't stand up for himself in his own damn house.

Too soon.

The only changes I would make would be adding Leonard Cohen, Magazine, and OOIOO. And minor order changes.

Well that was easy, as only a few spoke their mind.

I’m bitter because my list was rushed and therefore lacked vision. I’ve wanted to atone for that ever sense. Still feel that we have enough new user to make it worthwhile.

I will put it to bed for now.
