So far, I've heard 15 albums released (or to be released) in 2005 (including the new Spoon), and my top three were ALL released on 2/22. I still haven't even heard the new M. Ward yet, which was ALSO released on 2/22.

Pretty awesome.

Yeah...I ended up buying M. Ward, Thievery Corporation and Kings of Leon this week. I'm not too crazy about the Kings of Leon (hopefully it'll grow on me) but I'm loving M. Ward.

Also, I would give a hearty thumbs-up to 12 of the 15 I've heard, so it would appear that 2005 is going to be a damn fine year for music, as well.

Need to pick up Doves still. Will probably get that today with the new Solomon Burke if I can find it.

FT, what are the other top two besides Crooked Fingers?

Definitely a grower. Took me several listens to fully kick in. Is it mainly his voice that's got you hung up so far?

2. Josh Rouse - Nashville (Review to come soon.)
3. Kings of Leon - Aha Shake Heartbreak

Thievery Corporation I've been listening to from a promo copy dub.

Gonna buy this. Works as both background and foreground coolness, depending on the need.

Don't forget the four records I bought from the 22nd:

Iron & Wine- The Woman King
A Gun Called Tension- S/T
Mogwai- BBC Sessions
Damon & Naomi- The Earth is Blue

Also got M Ward- waiting patiently for Kings of Leon to go away.

I have yet to buy an album in 2005. Too many bills to pay off from Christmas.

<=== not shelling out bucks for another Iron and Wine disc. I thought "Creek" was excellent, but the follow-up was redundant and useless.

Agreed. Tis their best work to date IMO. Plus it's on sale somewhere now for $7.99.

The lyrics can get a bit precious for me at times but damn if it ain't purdy.

I never heard any Iron and Wine before this EP and downloaded it thanks to someone on the board posting links to it and saying it was awesome, and I really enjoyed it. It is now on my Amazon wish list. :)

My God I love Iron & Wine- my wife was giving me all kinds of shit this weekend about how "soft" my music is these days. I have a killer ipod playlist with I&W, Devendra, Sufjan, Nick Drake & Josh Ritter.

It puts me in touch with my sensitive side.

It's all about tomorrow - 3/1...

Not for music, mind you, but for the triumphant DVD premiere of D.C. CAB

Talk about an Obner...
