for instance: Camper Van Beethoven - New Roman Times. Supposed to have been the glorious return and latter day respect-gathering of those 80's off-kilter genuises, but hardly anyone noticed it, few talked about it and Green Day's concept album went on to be blathered about instead.

I like it a lot, but it's a bit too clunky/bloated conceptually to be considered on par with early works.

Also: New York Dolls - Return Of The New York Dolls Live From Royal Festival Hall, 2004.

That dudes in their 50's can still sound like this is remarkable. It stands up a great recording without having to tack any Dolls legendary status baggage on, but I've heard very little about it.

Speaking of Massive Attack- a friend let me borrow MA's" Danny The Dog" soundtrack. I like it- is this indicative of their other releases?

Thanks,

fp

It's indicative of the more ambient direction they're taken, yeah, but their earlier releases have a more beat-oriented nature.

Ankiel's coming back, though, and might actually start this year...

I think Juan Cruz Jr. might be a better choice, as far as the last 6 years or so go...

Hey whatever didn't pan out, was unjustly ignored or didn't live up to expectations is fine for the thread. As long as it's nuthin' about Monty's sex life or nuthin'.
