what's this genre all about and who started it and why is it getting so much press right now? if i went to a grime showcase at rothko, for instance, would i enjoy it?

it's broken beats, sublow bass, very minimal in structure.

it's a "new form" of garage music really, that's all. many of the garage artists were tired of the "vocal style" garage tunes, and brought more of a drum and bass feel to the music....heavy breaks and bass...and grime is born. much of it is very minimal/militant, so it leaves room for mc's to have their way over it.

i personally love it, especially artists like deekline, horsepower, kode9.

also, it's a pirate thing in london. pirate radio is still going strong over there, but where it used to be mostly drum and bass, it's now grime/sublow artists and dj's. this is where dizzee was born from [an mc most people will know, but not my fav].

there's a massive grime/broken beats/garage event coming in march to miami at the Winter Music Conference. i'm stoked.
