Have at it:
http://iacmusic.com/songs.aspx?SongID=5 ... stID=10003
(streaming audio only)

Let me know if you like it or hate it or whatever.
Whatever you think, it sounds like nothing else I've ever done and I had a lot of fun with it.

It really does sound better LOUD.

Added a poll so that you wouldn't be uncomfortable telling me what you really think one way or the other -- anonymously. But comments are, of course, always appreciated.

And yeah, this will be on the next record, along with some acoustic folk, classic country, bluegrass, power pop, punk, and some other stuff. I do hope that you like this.

EDIT: And the response (even from my worst critics) has been pretty positive so far, so yay me. But y'all are a different animal.

I dig it. The programming and guitars fit together pretty well I would say.

Props for trying something new, Todd.

++: fuzz bass
+: guitars, chorus drums (specifically the loose off-beat hi-hat)
?: electronic percussion needs something more than the pitch change to stay interesting
-: keyboard line doesn't do much for me and, thus, is too strong in the mix for me
--: verse voices, both of them

yah, the vocals in the verses were a bit buried in the mix IMO....intentional? cause the chorus sounded so good.

The vocals in the verse are a little buried. I need to fix a couple of things in the mix, overall. And, the more I listen to it, the more I think that the verse vocals are a part of those fixes. But yeah, those crazy octaves were hard for me to sing.

And, thanks for all the comments so far, y'all; the positive and the not-so-positive. It's all appreciated.

I like it PT. I agree with Twilight, the basso voice mixed with the alto is cool just can't here them too clearly.

I really like it. Esp. The "chorus". Very catchy.

Overall I like it.. and I'm not much of a sweet pop kind of guy.

I agree about the vocals-overall, too buried.

Intro fuzz a bit generic, during the verses - the fuzz becomes distracting... but I like it when it fades in with the chorus and keyboard...

I think the keyboard being up front in the mix is nice during the chorus.

Love it. I like the buried vocals, too.

The fact that the whole CD won't be like this disappoints me greatly.

Also, someone rip that stream and give me a download!

(Ok, being facetious about that last part...)

I was looking forward to giving you props for this since I respect most of your taste in music, but I pretty much hate this to be completely honest. I'm not much of a sweet pop guy either, to say the least. I don't like ANYTHING that sounds like this. It's probably good for what it is.

Don't worry about it, Danny.
I appreciate you honesty.

i like it too--the arrangement hangs together really well. but i agree on the verse vocals. it's not so much that they're buried as that they're unenthusiastic/kind of dull.

This is the sort of music you should've been doing all along, Todd. Catchy electro-pop.

I like it Todd, Chris is right, it's one of the better songs you've done.

Turn the guitar up in the mix to compete with the keys, double or triple track your verse vocals which will add about 3dB per double and it will average out the pitchiness (which i personally find charming).

The guitar sounds a little solid state transistory for my tastes, if you were using a distortion pedal, i'd ditch it out of the chain and try and crank a small tube amp like a blues jr. for a tone that will have more body and cut.

More importantly, i think it's a good song.

I also wish more people had checked out the poor people pre-production tracks i posted. maybe i should follow your lead with a poll and a "non-commmital throwing up of the hands" sort of thread title.

We started re-tracking this weekend and the whole album is gonna be far superior, tonally and performance wise, we've gigged alot since we started tracking around thanksgiving.

this has potential Todd, but i'd like it to sound a bit more snotty punk, and twisted new wave. dig the overall song idea, but make it a bit more raw. get some pissy vocals in there.

post more tunes dude. this is good.
