their EP was so much better than their full-length.

I think it's a comment on OPA's fickleness.

Not that there's anything wrong with that.

a bit too much of a throwback...

thats how i felt about this one too

i need at LEAST some small element to connect it with the time it was created
or it comes across as too phony to me

i've been having a lot of difficulties digging music that's a total rehash
and to some extent i enjoy throwback
i just need a little spin added to it

erm, i am giving this a listen right now and there seems to a an arctic monkeys cover on here.

This is the only thing I've listened to in two days. It's really very good if you haven't checked it out yet.

And yeah, as thrillhouse pointed out, there's an Arctic Monkeys cover on the album. I hate the original but the cover version is fantastic.

More soulful than Jamie Lidell?

The thought of that kinda scares me...

Then again, the thought of this album being THAT GOOD scares me even more...

I like this record but can't stand the AM cover (not that I am a big AM fan by any means).

jamie's obviously faking it but he does a better job than any number of neo-soul/r&b/crap out there now.

oh no, i agree, but to call him soulful would be comedy.

Baby Charles on the other hand are not faking it.

Why do people feel the need to recreate the "feel & sound" of old soul/funk records? Don't they realize they'll never better their idols?

This style of music, along with Def Leppard and most latin dance music is probably my least favorite. Sorry to pull a Rads/Danny Don't Rapp and piss on your white-boy soul party.

i respect you stu, but this is about the dumbest thing you've ever said on here.

why does any band feel the need to play in a classic style, no matter what type of music it is? possibly, just possibly it's because they LOVE that music, and want to play it.

but yeah, back to our white boy soul party. dude, really.

So just fold up the shop on funk and soul, it's been done to perfection I guess. Same with rock and roll, too.
