I've mentioned this on several occasions but Rock achieved perfection during the organ solo of 'Trampled Underfoot'.

Chest Fever is way up there. But people, have we forgotten about Road Runner by The Modern Lovers ? and Deep Purple probably has at leat 4 or 5 slots in the top 20.

There's definitely some slots for Deep Purple in this ....another one that might be way off the screen is "Right Now For You" from Al Kooper's I Stand Alone album.

This wa after I watched that goddawful Big Bounce movie on HBO last night and heard a song from Ode To Joy over the closing credits. Folowing that fucking Jet song, no less. Lots and lots of great mentions in this thread, but allow me to throw some love in the general direction of The Sir Douglas Quintet...masters of the FARFISA!!!

Pretty damn close. It's definitely Zep's finest moment.

Whiter Shade of Pale. The organ makes the song and the song is one of my top 5 favorites of all-time.

Cotton's bored so ... he's practising his necromancy skills?

On topic: I dig the solos in "House of the Rising Sun" and, believe it or not, REO Speedwagon's "Roll With the Changes"; Styx, "Blue Collar Man" has a great organ-based riff; but two of my favourites are Deep Purple's "Lazy" and Rick Wakeman on Yes' "Heart of the Sunrise" (especially the intros).

Fucking awesome. But an R&B organ allowance would trample this thread. I mean, people are talking about the Charlatans, for crissakes.

This is more like Special Olympics.

That organ part in Crowded House's "Don't Dream It's Over" is pretty sweet, but it's really just an homage to Procol Harum, isn't it?

I am gonna just throw "Megalomaniac" - Muse in there for good measure. It's bombast makes it truly wonderful. :)

Don't check Obner much anymore; this is a great thread. Y'all are talking music these days?

Good choices all...
