Alice in Chains - Dirt

After the Josh Ritter, I decided to listen to all 1992 albums for today.

Jane's Addiction - Nothing's Shocking
Jane's Addiction - Ritual de lo Habitual
Porno for Pyros - s/t
Porno for Pyros - Good God's Urge

np: Jane's Addiction - "Classic Girl"

Been a long time. I don't love any of this stuff anymore, but it's alright. I don't think that Jane's Addiction was really all that great, and I don't think Porno for Pyros was really all that bad. It's all about the same to me.

Jane's Addiction was all that great. I never got into Porno for Pyros, although I convinced myself that I did at age 11 or 12. The songs simply weren't memorable.

why were you listening to PFP at 12? There hit came out in like 93, when I was 13.

I thought Jane's made good rock and roll. No more, no less. When Perry decided the show was about him, and not the music, I stopped paying attention.

I guess I need to hear that Bon Iver.

If you pay attention to the lyrics in Jane's, it's pretty much all about Perry. "I am skin and bones/I am pointy nose", etc. etc. PFP songs are at least somewhat topical, if nonsensical and pretentious. Jane's wasn't exactly unpretentious, though. It's one grand statement after another.

And yeah, PFP hit when I was like 11 or 12, and I went back and checked out Jane's afterward. They just never did as much for me. I was pretty big into Led Zeppelin at the time, especially their really epic stuff like much of Physical Graffitti, but I still always found the long tracks on Ritual to be really tedious.

Sorry Loogs. Your tastes are too unsophisticated to appreciate something so un-jail as Bon Iver.

I guess you're right about the topicality thing, I just meant more like the more I saw interviews and stuff with him, the more i couldn't take stuff like "Pets," but I always loved Been Caught Stealing, and Mountain Song, etc.

Nothing I listen to regularly, but I get a does of nostalgia when I hear em.

As far as PFP, I've only heard one song, "we'll make great pets"

Ehhh..Like I said in the random thread, even though I voted for Barry in the primary, I am apparently a racist and a Republican because I questioned the liberal orthodoxy of Iraq withdrawal, and intimated that I think McCain might be a better steward for our country than either Barry or HRC because of his military service and life experience.

I guess being opinionated gets you hit from all sides.

I love Jane's Addiction, at least Nothing's Shocking and Ritual. That reunion album was just fucking awful. I do own the first Pornos album, but I'll be damned when I remember last listening to it.
