Start with the live album Okonokos. Next buy It Still Moves. Then At Dawn

Start with okonokos for sure. That's all i really like, but it was so fucking good that it completely changed my mind about the band, even if it hasn't changed my mind about the studio recordings.

I'd say start with It Still Moves and then move to At Dawn.
I like Okonos, but it might be too much for the new listener.

Thanks, guys.

Alright, I grabbed Onkonos.
I'm looking for At Dawn now.

Did the new record leak yet?

The studio version of "Mahgeeta" is like, my favorite thing going right now.

Yeah, it's one of those that could stay on repeat for a good while.

Z, It Still Moves, and At Dawn = 3 of the best albums of the past 10 years

I think at one point every song on this album has been my #1 MMJ song.

Z is great, if a bit poppier. I have never given At Dawn it's proper due -- seemed slow the few times I checked it.

this is the order i went in, and i'm now a firm believer. Okonokos is indeed one of the best/most intense live albums i've ever experienced, so yeah, finish up with that, or go grab the dvd....well worth it.

then enjoy some of the tunes off their new album in this set from SXSW 2008...

16. STEAM ENGINE!!!!!!
17. lay low

NPR.org, March 13, 2008 - A warm swell fills the room when My Morning Jacket takes the stage, but there's also unmistakable energy. The band's roots lie in distinctly American music forms (country, folk, classic rock), all wrapped in reverb and Jim James' soaring voice. Hear a concert recorded live at the Austin Music Hall in Austin, Tex., complete with eight songs from My Morning Jacket's new album, Evil Urges.

Formed in the late '90s, My Morning Jacket attracted cult popularity with its first releases, including The Tennessee Fire and At Dawn. At the time, the band was frequently lumped in under the "alt-country" label (alongside Whiskeytown, Lambchop, Old 97's, and countless others), but following the trajectory of It Still Moves and Z, My Morning Jacket has grown into a rock act with epic ambitions.

In addition to performing with full-size symphony orchestras — not to mention James' appearance in the Bob Dylan biopic I'm Not There — My Morning Jacket will release Evil Urges in June.

I was the same way but billy kept saying that it was his favorite so I spun it a few more times. It may be my favorite now. It's a bit more subdued at times with songs like "Bermuda Highway" and "Hopefully" but they're just so good.

In my eyes this band hasn't made a mis-step yet.

I'll also agree that there is never a bad time to throw on "Mahgeetah". Ever.

It Still Moves is easy Top 10 of the decade for me. An amazing album, especially while driving.

I've liked everything i've purchased of theirs but i haven't listened to Okonokos yet. Still need to get At Dawn.

It Still Moves is a classic in my book.

I've never listened to their albums much despite loving "O Is The One That Is Real" from their split EP with Songs: Ohia. Will have to rectify this shortly.
