Jason Segal's junk was the best part of "Forgetting Sarah Marshall".

it's pretty fucking harrowing.

a good friend of mine called me after I lent it to her and was like "seriously, what the fuck is wrong with you? Whiy would I like this?"

then a day later she called back and said "I just watched all the bonus features, and now I still think the movie's fucked up, but I can appreciate it a lot more"

so there's that. Not much gore, but plenty of awkward raping.

I wanna watch this again with the perspective of Tanner's post about Peckinpah considering Hoffman the bad guy.

yeah, that comment seems to make a lot of sense to me looking back at the movie.

Ex-bf told me that I was the only woman he knew that liked the movie. Harrowing is a good description as is anxiety-inducing.

I'm still amused by the last "film" I watched whilst drinking bucket margaritas...Zardoz.

i don't know any women that like straw dogs

some of them it was just the rape scene that bothered them
but most women also hate the fuck out of a BEAR TRAP

Haha that's exactly what flashed through my brain during that first scene.

Then later, the dad from The Jerk.

3.5 movies seen by me today.

I kicked off the day with The Amnityville Horror (2005). Saw the first half before the people we were leeching on-demand from turned it off. Not that I was too disappointed... a movie that isn't faithful the original movie that isn't faithtful to a book that isn't faithful to real life is kind of awkward.

Then I caught most of Dan In Real Life via the same on-demand siphoning method. Hit too close to home to be funny... though for those interested in socially awkward Steve Carrell it'll probably be a classic.

Roommate rented Cloverfield, which I really enjoyed right up to the wholly anti-climactic ending. Would it have hurt too much to actually give us a conclusion that lets us know more? Still, I really liked it a lot.

Finished off the night by tapping into someone's on-demand of The Number 23. "Intriguing" is the phrase I have used most frequently in conjunction with this movie. I enjoyed it despite its obvious flaws.

My most recent views:

The Fly (1958 version)- I really liked this. The science is obviously completely made up, and not even internally consistent, but it's a good film. Help me! Help me!

The General - My first exposure to Buster Keaton. A lot of fun. Never a dull moment.

High Plains Drifter - Clearly owes a lot to the Sergio Leone films, and is inferior to those, but still better than most action films.

Over the weekend:

Cloverfield - Bought the dvd. Loved it.

Monster Squad - I haven't seen this since I was a kid. Awesome.

There Will Be Blood - I loved this movie even more after the second viewing. Greenwood's score is the best i've heard in some time. I wish I hadn't bought the special edition. Not worth the extra money, imo.

I also got Hot Fuzz from net flix, but I haven't watched it yet.

The Ruins is surprisingly good if you're into suspense/horror. Sorry, Sarah Marshall was kind of a letdown.

Saw both in Rosemont this weekend tagging along with the missus for a trip to Chicago. That Muvico18 in Rosemont is one hell of a theater with beer and wine available and a over 21 option to stay away from the idiots. Holy fuck. I want one of these.

I saw Zombie Strippers this weekend. If you like zombies and you like strippers, then this movie is great, cus it has zombies and strippers...plus zombie strippers...hence the title
