Do you get a decent amount for selling your cd's through there?

I'm paring down my collection and I've got at least a hundred so far I'm looking to get rid of. I'd rather not have to lug them into the city on the train in stacks at a time but I know I can get at least $4 for most of them if I do, significantly more for stuff like the Beck and Pumpkins.

you should try secondspin or spun.com. spun has free shipping but i think second spin will pretty much buy anything and one of them usually has better prices but i forget which one.

you make your own price on half.com. you're not going to sell your shit real fast though, so if that's what you're after don't bother with half.com

you wont get that much for stuff on secondspin, and theres tons of CD's out there, I usually consider it a coup to get $5 for a used CD

half.com will sell a lot at first and then the crappy ones will be left sitting on the listing. As people list theirs lower than your price, yours will sit longer. When you list on there, you have to pretty much be the lowest price to move it with any speed.

So I sold 15 cd's and dvd's to secondspin.

I didn't bother with any unless they were giving me at least $2. I ended up making $54, which isn't particularly much. Especially once it cost me $20 just to mail the damn thing.

I just browsed spun but they were only going to give me $3 for a disc that secondspin gave me $9.

I don't know. Maybe it evens out after the shipping.

I've sold a bunch of CDs on Amazon. I'm not sure you make as much money as Half per disc but I imagine it gets more traffic. Amazon reimburses almost the full amount for shipping and takes a relatively small cut in my opinion. For example, on a CD I sold for $7 Amazon's commission was $2.74 but they reimbursed me $2.59 for shipping.

If you want to sell fast, you just set your price as the lowest and most CDs sell relatively quickly. I've only had a handful not sell at all.

I've had good luck in selling dvds on Amazon.

Last summer I made $540.00 selling stuff to Secondspin. It paid for my vegas vacation.

I've got a little over 6000 cds that just collect dust and would love to rip them to a hard drive and then sell them. If I got $2 a piece I would be a happy camper.

Although the idea of ripping 6000 cds to a hard drive is something that would take forever. But having them all on hard drives would make for one kick ass jukebox and a hell of a lot more convenient when I wanted to listen to something.

I need to get ripping.

I like half.com lately...

spun gives ya a crap lately, and second spin, while pays a decent amount doesn't have everything in their system.

I sold around 200 CDs to second spin a few years ago and they ended up sending about 50 back to me (in fairness to them, there were some sh*t CDs in the bunch). I think they reimbursed me for the shipping, but I could be wrong or they've just changed it.

I tried listing about 200 discs on ebay back in December, and only about 50 sold, so I had to pay a listing fee for the other 150 that didn't sell which killed profits.

I should list the remaining ones again. The problem is that selling them for $1 or $2 doesn't make it worthwhile after you buy envelopes and put all the time into organizing and shipping.

Since I'm trying to get rid of a ton, I just can't be bothered to make individual postings for each disc like I'd need to for eBay or Amazon.

Maybe I'm not getting a ton from secondspin after the shipping charges, but they're just collecting dust anyway so whatever.

I also took some credit and picked up a couple of discs cheap that I've wanted for a while.

i figured out what each CD cost me to send out and figured i has to list them for $1.19 to break even (just figured out a way to bring this down a bit more). this, of course, is pure money and doesn't include time and gas (for me a wash as i send them from work).

there is also no listing fee on Amazon, so if they don't sell it doesn't matter.

I just sent a second batch of discs to Second Spin. The first batch was about $60ish (about $2/disc average), plus they credited me five bucks or so on shipping. Order was processed in a couple days, check received quickly. One disc rejected for "Missing Artwork", though I'm not sure what is missing. I was pleased to find that disc returned to me today.

Second box went in the mail this week, about $85, still about $2/disc, and I'm preparing a third. For those of us with no patience to sell and ship individually, and/or a local option, this works pretty well.

You can also opt to receive slightly more (I think) in credit from Secondspin which doesn't have to be redeemed same day like most record stores require.
