Saw this guy tonight solo in London. Damn good, and I imagine he'd be better with a full band. I tried to haggle the price of his CD down to something decent in US$, but he would not budge. I ain't spending 10 pounds on a CD.

Just curious. I was in the record store yesterday and listened to some of it at a listening station and was digging the hell out of it.

I didn't pick it up because I had a list I was sticking to but from what I heard it was pretty solid R&B based tuneage.

Still like it a lot. On repeated listens he doesn't have the fluidity of the masters but he fully has the passion and pure approach.

I bought this at an amoeba instore he did a few months ago just because I thought he put on a show and wanted to support him. Its enjoyable enough i guess but probably in the bottom 10% of soul discs I own along with Sharon Jones and most other recent soul artists i talk myself in to buying. I'm not sure i'll ever really feel like listening to it again. I need to control myself a little better on this kind of stuff.

Listening to his new album now. First half is pretty disappointing. Might be a grower, but it's certainly not having the immediate impact the first album did.

Dude's a live act, anyway.
