People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals sent Wholey a letter asking him to work with the group to release Bubba back in the Atlantic Ocean off the coast of Maine.

Another group calling itself People For Eating Tasty Animals reportedly offered Wholey a hefty price for the lobster. At Tuesday's price of $14.98 a pound, Bubba would retail for about $350.

It's pretty good, but I can think of greater uses for hot water, butter, fork, and a bib...

like tea and an english muffin. yum...

You don't need a fork for an english muffin.

What if I told you I narrowly escaped with my life after being attacked by a gigantic killer lobster whilst vacationing in Maine one summer as a young spontaneouspoet and have been terrified of them ever since... what would you say then? Huh?

I'd say you'd been hitting the Listerine a bit too heavily of late.

Don't you know that the best way to deal with a bully is to drop him in a vat of boiling water, then take him out, snap his spinal column, and eat the meaty flesh contained within?

Worked for Dahmer...

So I've worked with fisheries management of the Maine Lobster, and I was really surprised that that lobster made it to Pennsylvania. It must have been in Rhode Island waters. In the Gulf of Maine waters, it would have been illegal to bring that beast on deck, let alone ship it to a fish market. The weird thing about lobsters is that the bigger they get, the more babies they can make - so larger mommas are better for the population health than small mommas, and they need big daddies to fertilize them, because at that size there's more cushion for the pushin.'

One of the reasons that lobster populations are crashing south of Cape Cod (aside from climate change, habitat destruction, and pollution) is that they don't do nearly as good a job of managing the lobsters as MA, NH, ME, and the Canucks.

Now I'll take off my biologist hat and say "What's up, folks?" I've been pretty slammed with work, beermaking, and bandmaking recently.

Sadly, my knowledge regarding maple syrup is lacking, but I would not doubt you or what you have heard.

would you use that instead of a malt extract? and where would we score some of this?

Apparently MMFvdge is some kind of fancy pants Mr. Moneybags who can afford to buy the higher-end fork split English Muffins. Alas, my ghettocity extends to the point where I must use a fork to split them myself...

Like wet pine, no less. I've got a big fork....

and I can't wait to see the nastiness that ensues when someone edits this quote...

Apparently you use the sugar maple sap instead of water - boil it up, add the barley malt & hops, and you're set. As for scoring some of it? It's probably easy if you live next to a maple tapper like sp does. Other than that I have no idea.

(maple syrup / beer-making) should work fine, although it'd be a little heavy. The added sugar would skyrocket the alcohol content, and a lot of that sweet flavor would come through the process unscathed as latent sugar, which would make the finished product pretty sweet.
