they are trying inventive ways to get people to actually buy CD's and not download them.

not surprised. cross-brandings so hot right now. clothing lines, ipods, jags, music video brand placement... you've seen this all coming, right? even though its not in the artist's best interest, they'll sit in any vehicle you put 'em in if it'll push 2 million more units or a few hundred thousand/million in sales or revenue. its how superstars are being made more universal. its brand identity.
