new Mogwai record coming in 2008--title is kinda, sorta announced.

Quote:
oh well, another glorious scottish failure comes and goes. you'd think it would stop coming as a surprise but unfortunately it doesn't. no wonder we drink a lot. anyways enough football related mopery i should probably write something to tell you what is happening with our band. we have resumed rehearsing (meeting up and talking rubbish and occasionally playing music). we have the studio booked to finish recording (castle of doom is currently homeless) and we are going to get the record mixed in spring. if everything goes to plan the record (provisionally titled "the hawk is howling") should be out early autumn. it will probably have a song on it called "the precipice". martin and i are going to see the sex pistols tonight and i had veggie sausages and beans on toast for dinner. oh barry and me are dj'ing next friday at firewater in glasgow. stuart b

Been pretty disappointed with the past couple of albums, so a return to form would be nice.

I really enjoyed the most recent. Probably more than any of their previous ones. So, I, on the other hand, hope for more of the same. :)

I always loved Mogwai, but for some reason I'm not so excited bout this. I'll get it and I'm sure I'll like it, but blah.......

i can get behind this. not as gradual, but still proper Mogwai progression.

this will sound massive in a live setting.

I rather enjoyed the tune, but I have a strong bias toward the instrumental "post-rock" cinematic tunages.

The "Gwai are definitely one of my favorite live bands ever...

As for the single, I'll wait for the album to hear it in it's proper context.

Hi all,

Its been a busy time with us Mogwai's and we're delighted to announce our new ep as well as our October UK tour and Mexican tour next month as well as rounding up all the shows we have coming up and the recently released remastered and expanded edition of Mogwai Young Team. We also have news from our Rock Action label which has been insanely busy too. Here we go...........

BATCAT EP
Our new ep will be out on September 8th on CD, 12" vinyl and download (September 9th on vinyl and download in north America). The tracklist is:

1 - Batcat
2 - Stupid Prick Gets Chased By The Police And Loses His Slut Girlfriend
3 - Devil Rides

Batcat also features on our forthcoming new album The Hawk Is Howling which is due out on September 22nd. Devil Rides features vocals by the legendary Roky Erickson. Batcat and Stupid Prick.... were both recorded by Andy Miller at Chem 19 and mixed by Gareth Jones at Castle Of Doom. Devil Rides was recorded by Tony Doogan at Castle of Doom with Roky's vocal recorded at Wire Recording by Stuart Sullivan and mixed by Gareth Jones at Castle Of Doom.

WHAT?! Roky Erickson?!?! Holy crap, this is going to be amazing. I'm so hyped based on the first single/leak. This just sweetens the deal.
