I turned me away from mine because it was at the fucking hotel near the airport (strike one and two), was like $75 a head, and included a dinner but NO drinks (strike three). And it was in ATL of course, which meant 2 tickets for us to fly down there.

yet you post it on an online bulletin board for anyone to see, including your missus. ;)

10 year was kinda silly. No one had really changed that much, and same stupid cliques were still in place. Made me glad I moved far, far away, as I'd say 80% of my graduating class still lived within a 40 mile radius of my highschool.

20 year is coming up in August, but right now, no plans to go. And Gar, are you suggesting there would be guys trolling for me? ;)

I keep in touch with the folks I want to, and have actually reconnected with a lot of peeps this year alone via facebook.

So... if you're in town and you are genuinely interested in seeing people from highschool, then go. If not, then don't. Quite simple really.

10th was a looong time ago- I only remember two things about it: 1) Being told that the guy I was trying to pass a joint to made his living as a detective. 2) Boinking a former cheerleader who wouldn't even speak to me in high school.

20th was a long time ago, too- I was married at the time and the wife was like 8 1/2 months pregnant, no random boinking at that one. I recall: 1) A massive drunkening, 2) A lot of cocaine, 3) The only time in my life I've ever been accosted by a gay dude, and 3) The only time I've ever broken a gay dude's nose (that I know of, at least).

30th was sorta long time ago- I remember : 1) Not much drinking, and 2) Being accosted by several recently divorced women (only 2 were worth the trouble).

So, sure, g'head.

I went to my 10th last month, and it was pretty fun.

Good turnout, saw most of the people I would have wanted to see, contrary to what a lot of people seem to say ("none of the people you want to see will be there..."). FYI, my graduating class was 300+.

It's a little weird, naturally. Some of those people I really do like and sort of miss, but I probably won't ever see them again until the 20-year reunion if I even go. Also, several good friends of mine from high school (childhood in general) were a grade above me, so naturally I didn't get to see any of them.

I'd say it's worth going, though.

sorry for not reading this thread. i read in Time (?) magazine that myspace and facebook are making high school reunions obsolete. you want to see who got married? who got fat? who turned from jock to tech geek or vice versa? just look 'em up on the internets.

I don't know what's worse: putting zero value on seeing and talking to people in person, or letting Time magazine hand you your opinions on the modern world.

(Not saying that either of these necessarily apply to you, bort.)

I missed my 10th and 20th. I guess I'll catch the next one if I hear about it, even though I only remember 4 or 5 of the people in my class. There are others that I'd probably remember if I looked in my yearbook, but I hated most of the people in my class. I'm kind of curious as to whether they are all still assholes.

Someone asked me "are you even 30 yet?" last week, so I feel confident that I've gotten better looking.

well they don't apply to me really, so your reply is neither here nor there, but truth be told i did not/will not attend any reunions because i had a pretty indifferent / uneventful high school experience, and don't really see the bright side of reminiscing about it.

as for what people wear, I don't know which one you're going to. I think for my 10th it ran the gamut from suits to evening gowns to just nice dresses on women. Men mostly wore suits, some with ties, some without. I know for my 20, they were going to have more of a casual night on Friday, and then dress-up on Saturday.

I think the point is that you don't have to go to a reunion to catch up anymore. It's not like facebook and myspace only allow you to communicate via the internet. In fact, as it relates to my original post, Facebook has gotten me back in contact with people that I didn't think I'd ever see again (from a school I went to through 10th grade but did not graduate from especially) and found out they were in the area and have now become friends again. I don't know if these sites make reunions obsolete because there's always that set of people that don't want anything to do with internet social networking because they think everyone online is some dude trolling for underage poon (re: monty). :)

this, and it fell on my birthday.

my 20th will be in 2011, and i'm definitely planning on going to that one.

someone else had mentioned having friends in different grades...i had a lot of good friends one year ahead and one year behind, i kinda wish they would merge a few years together for one reunion.

Most of my good friends weren't in the same class as me, anyway, so it's not really worthwhile to me. I went to the tenth, and it was a drag. Don't know if one's even been organized since then. We only had 33 in my class.

wait til you get to your 30/40 year reunions. That's when people start dying regularly and they have to merge classes together. ;)

I've enjoyed reading this thread, because my 10th is coming up next year. I've been totally up in the air about going. But considering how unpopular I was, I'm not even expecting an invite.
