OK, here's a band that I just happened to have a compilation handy to pull from...

The Vibrators

Yeah Yeah Yeah
Automatic Lover
24 Hour People
London Girls
Judy Says
You Broke My Heart
Baby Baby
War Zone
Whips and Furs
Fall In Love

70s English punk band with poppy tendencies. Probably most reminiscent of the Buzzcocks. A band I always think should be more prominently remembered than they are.

i'm digging this, thanks nobody!

They had more albums after 1990 and more good songs, but these hit harder. Left off some of my favorite dirge ballads from them because they didn't fit with the tone.

Also, Dalen, I've got a 10 song Oils sampler of the slower, weirder tracks if you decide you like this peppier one and wanna hear more.

Neither have "Beds Are Burning," because what's the point of that?

Is there any way to upload to mediafire where when someone dloads my mix it doesn't just file away according to album.

For example, if I were to make a Luna mix, can I make it so when they file it, it will come up as Derris' Luna Mix or something?

I use Drinky's method + a free program called Tag Scanner which allows you to re-tag, re-title and re-number tracks pretty easily.

When you process a batch, for each track there is a pane with all the information. If you click on the property (say, "Title") it will keep it static for all the tracks. You still have to re-number them individually, but it's still much simpler than doing everything by hand.

I hadn't listened to him in a while so I put this together. I chose tracks with lyics and tried to keep it consistent in soundscape, although I like his instrumental, folky and more ethereal stuff as well. I would say this is not a comp defining of all his musical output, but rather something you could listen to to appreciate his song writing and production skills.

This is really good, and made me want more...so I queued up Teatro.

I can think of a few artists I could do this for:
Dylan
Cash
Stones
Ike Reilly
strokes if they had more than 3 albums

If i can get it together over the next week or so, I might do Johnny Cash.

try for 5 tracks of early stuff and 5 from American stuff.

I did one for Songs: Ohia/Magnolia Electric Co./Jason Molina. I think this 10-track made it a lot easier to do than the more comprehensive one I'd tried to do forever for the rparis dumb idea thread.

I'll try to post it tonight. Great rainy day music.

This is a very nice idea - I'll try to do a 10 Wire song primer later on today.
