THIS is a band that I need to re-purchase some stuff. I have the 2 "proper" records, but The Complete Stone Roses is the shit! I miss "Sally Cinnamon".

Thanks for this, D.

Black Oak Arkansas is kicking the Beta Band's ass, for what it's worth.

The third part of the euphoniously capable Oldham clan is Ned Oldham--the other two being fraternal cohorts Will Oldham and Paul Oldham. Ned Oldham started a group called the Anomoanon in 1997. In the Oldham tradition, Anomoanon will most definitely host a revolving cast of band members, but unlike Will, who is known for his dour and repentant folk rock, Ned Oldham's project reflects more of a southern rock and country core. His music seems to capture the southern rock spirit of Neil Young with a guitar-driven pulse that complements Ned's twangy, extroverted voice.

I selected songs from their more conventional albums[sorry no fairy tales here], and selected 60% from Asleep Many Years in the Woods since its so damn good. This is not a reflection of all their songs because they can get jammy. I stayed away from that.

Highly RIYL, Neil Young, ramshackle Grateful Dead, early Whiskeytown, Wilco's AM, Dive Bars with Good Bands . . . I guess that would mean Honky Tonks . . . with a little folk thrown in for evening out the rough spots.

Sixteen Ways
I Aint Skeert
Kickin' Back
One That Got Away
Tongue and Heart
A Story
A Man of Words
As I Wander
O Ladywind
Mr. Train

I forgot to mention its got some great cowbell on Kickin Back
