IMO...drums.

you can do way more. solos just look cooler.

plus you can spin the sticks and stick out your tongue [universal sign for "really rocking"].

your pick?

Being an air drummer myself, I don't have to tell you what I vote for.

like hell it is. I drive with my knees so its no problem; i prefer air drums though while driving especially on the interstate because with cruise control you can play the air hi-hat and air bass drum pedals.

Earlier today I was sitting in traffic while going to home depot listening to Pinkerton and got a great look from a soccer mom type. Pinkerton is a TOP NOTCH air drum album

hey phil (epa), didn't we do this thread a couple months ago?

Avatar explains my vote.

and if you can't air guitar while driving, you don't belong behind the wheel of a car.

For me, it depends on the song... or even perhaps part of the song. If guitar is at forefront, work it. If there's a tasty drum lick, slam it. I can't have one without the other.

Air guitar, hands down.

In college, I took a class entiteld "the gods of rock guitar". In one lecture, the teacher gave a whole spiel about the awesomeness of air guitar, and proper ways of playing air guitar. A few things he mentioned:

1) The most important thing about playing air guitar is the face you make while playing.
2) Air guitar involves movements of the entire body, not just your arms.
3) There are things you can do with air guitar that you can't do with real guitar. For instance, you can be playing with the "guitar" in front of you, then slowly move your arms backward until the guitar is all of a sudden behind you. Rawk!

Drums.

Plus, while driving, you have steering wheel, dash, door, gearshifter, maybe a styrofoam cup in the holder, all sorts of shit that have different percussive sounds. Bonus points for a cupholder full of coins that rattles when you hit the console.
