Haha, it's an insult to "unlistenable" to saddle some middling indie rock like Neutral Milk Hotel with that distinguished title.

(Is that the gist of it?)

If you'd taken a few moments to consult with the HIVE we could have saved you some time. Move on to the Bill Fay. I want someone to listen to that one.

It's a band that tends to elicit extreme reactions on both ends, for the most part. Obviously I love 'em. But the hate is well-understood, as well.

I just thought it was terrible, all of it. Music, delivery, you name it. I honestly was surprised that this was the band that inspired so many to label that one record "perfect". However, I'm glad Todd wasn't offended, it wasn't a slight on his mix or anything. I liked some of the Super Furry Animals.

Pete can't decide if he hates the "hive" or he wants to be in it. It gets him confused. Then hegoes out and fucks dogs.

Actually was this because Todd posted the mix and I trashed it? I seem to recall that this was what got you all fussy with me the last time.

I think NMH are alright (not really "middling"), and I really like a few songs like "Song Against Sex". I have never understood the devoted cult following, though.

No, not really, yes. Haha. I certainly find anyone who throws out terms like "unlistenable" worth having some fun with. For me it shows how tight box their box is. I mean it's a comment that i find retarded and what do the "hive" do when they find similar? I just find them so pathetic, it cracks me up.

I mean look at them now, even Billy G is getting in there. It's schoolground mentality. Bunch of bullies all of them. I piss on the back of your soapbox, while you're not looking of course.

And Charlie, sometimes i want to hug you, tell you it's gonna be allright, but tonight, wanker.

Just an observation:

Iddin't ironic that the animosity between the PPDD and REG-ROCK crowds was seemingly/briefly wiped out by the "Tenner" thread and with page 6 of the "Tenner discussion" thread, we're back to where we started with the "BORING" thread that immediately preceded the "Tenner" thread?

Anyway, back to music talk. I had no idea that toots was in Brazil, so I put that on and I really liked it, quite a lot actually. It paired well with data analysis. So I'll check out toots' own tenner from his band and then check out a whole album.

And I don't know why I've been putting on the folk music for late afternoon, but I played Bill Fay, which was really good. I really like the electric guitar that floats in and out. I can definitely see listening to more of this too.

We're not totally back there yet although tenner burnout is definitely on the immediate horizon.

I'm not sure if that's irony, but it does seem that the tenner thread erased that debate for a short while, at least until someone posted a Neutral Milk Hotel tenner. The solution, then, is obvious.

Yeah, this is part of the problem Charlie, what music talk. You never say anything. You really like the electric guitar that floats in and out. What exactly do you like about it, is this on every song? Sorry, you do say one thing a lot.

Pete, when I meant unlistenable, it was fucking hyperbole. I mean I could barely stand to hear another note of it. I couldn't wait for it to finish, etc. The same goes for The Constantines, Tom Waits, Captain Beefheart. If you or anyone for that matter gets personally offended that I find something so extremely displeasing, then man, I don't know what to tell you. Have another drink or a smoke, I guess. I don't give a fuck, I'm just being honest.

with all due respect pete. there's maybe one post every three months that gets much deeper than "I like", "I don't like", or "unlistenable" from anyone. if you're looking for serious detailed music discussion, you're at the wrong place.

I'm at work, listening to music, while I'm doing analysis. I can provide a little feedback on what I like and don't like. At the rate I listen to music, I'd have to be unemployed to contribute anything substantial to each mix or album during the day.
