no ranking = booooo

But I'm just gonna pretend that Didn't It Rain really is your second favorite album of all time.

Unfortunately, that also means that Vespertine is your #1...

Great stuff on that list, though. Lots that I need to check out (Arthur Russell being a big one).

No way, what kind of marimba are we talking about here?

Rainbow in Curved Air is awesome. Montreal record stores suck.

I don't think I've ever listened to "Another Thought" once. What's up?

she's not unlike this one... but a little shorter (2 1/3 octaves) and she has black keys...

oh, ish, you should really check out another thought. it's a compilation, but there's a lot of very good stuff on there. it includes one of my most fav A.R. songs: "This Is How We Walk On the Moon".

We just listened to it. I love "Keepin' Up", that's a great song. Have you seen that documentary yet?

You're awesome. You have a marimba. I am envious.

ha. i knew you'd like keepin' up. there's something kind of hot about it.

well, it's the first tuned percussion instrument i've ever seen that was not $1, 000+. I had been researching them earlier in the week and all I saw---even for good xylophones---were things that started at $3, 000 (!). This one was waaay cheaper.

The one I got was from a guy who makes them. He's moving so he's getting rid of some and the one I got is kind of smaller than normal.

OMG. The day after I got it I saw an ad for a Vibraphone for $125!! Totally insane! I think it was snatched up in minutes. Everyone I mentioned it too said: "There's a whole digit missing from that price".

I didn't seriously consider this but i do love that album. i'm pretty sure it would make a top 250 for me. Unless I completely fell asleep, she's way overdue for a follow-up.

Oooo. I did-hint know there was a book.

I shall look it up.

Argh, and this after swearing to myself this morning that I will end this recently book binge! (especially music-related books!)
