I'm pretty sure I sat out the first one...

and, due to the futility involved in making a list like this, I might have to sit this one out as well. It takes me weeks just to do a yearly top-20, let alone a life encapsulating top-100...

but I might just have to give it a shot.

I've been working on mine for a couple months now but I'm also listening to every album I own in preparation.

As evidenced by the front page of the Rock/Pop forum, that much work is not required.

It looks like Exile on Main Street is the early favorite to be No. 1...

Props to anyone who has the patience to compile one of these. I can't see myself doing it.

It placed at #42 on the overall list last time so that's pretty interesting.

In the past 5 years, TEH SOUTH HAS RISED AGAIN.

ATL/Midwest crew has grown a lot, memberwise & influencewise, on this board. I don't even rememer the last one - could someone repost it?

(then again, as much as everyone seems to be over the last list, I'm expecting to see Vampire Weekend at #1...)

So far I really like this. I'll be honest here, my knowledge of really anything outside of the jazz/electronic realm that came out before say mid '80s, I am clueless about (this guy has never listened to a single Rolling Stones, Neil Young, or Bob Dylan record for some inexplicable reason), so look forward to getting introduced to a lot of stuff from everyone's lists. So, yeah, big thanks to everyone who is doing this.

I know, it's completely unacceptable, but these things have always been on my get around to listening to list, and I've just never done it. Late bloomer musically here. I was that guy that just ten years ago was camping out overnight for Korn tickets  . I dug a lot of the "tenners" of stuff people posted, so hopefully with this I can get a good grasp on whole albums that I should have listened to years ago.

With 43 days to go, I have had three lists submitted to me.

1 was confirmed and compiled.

1 was sent back with the notice that there was no #24.

1 is still waiting on confirmation, rparis.

You think maybe the deadline should be moved up a little? Mid-September? End of this month?

Part of me wants to say yes but a lot of the lists have been posted with "these aren't ranked.." or "I whipped this together in five minutes.." or "I don't know..."

With another month, they should be able to at least try to get a rough ranking done up.

Though I guess mid-September would still be alright.

Just so you know, those people would be saying the same thing if you gave them a deadline of 70 more years and a portion of their afterlife.

^ the truth

Whenever you make the deadline is when they'll get done. Everybody's dragging their feet because they have so much time. I know the deadline was originally my idea, but I didn't think everyone would come up with so many lists so quickly. I'd say you could go ahead and move it up to the end of this month.

Considering Yail's got 46 lists posted in his mega-thread, I've only received 4 officially.

And and then it's endless bitching about how BORING the lists are and how shitty everyone's taste is.
