There was a 16-year old girl murdered in East Millinocket back in 1980. Her body was found buried behind the high school soccer fields and her murder was never solved.

Family and friends of the girl raised enough money to bring Dr. Michael Baden and Dr. Henry Lee up to examine the body and do DNA testing Friday. The girl's being exhumed tomorrow.

So that means a forensics dude my wife watches on TV is going to be trying to figure who killed one of her childhood neighbors.

Huh.

Dr Henry Lee isn't Bones is it? Because that would be cool (except her name would be Henry)!

I think this person is a real doctor, Andy. But Morgan Freeman will be doing the forensic psychological analysis.

Lee used to be Chief of the Connecticut State Police and has been on many forensic shows and has lots of books.

Baden hosted HBO's "Autopsy" and is New York State Chief Pathologist.

crazy but interesting... so they are sort of forensic heroes, when they check the case, the murderer gets cold feet?
after we had all these crime series here from the u.s., where the forensic part of the work was in focus, some german producers started to develop formats with this aspect more exposed but for me it looks odd... I mean, all these technical gimmicks they use in series like csi...

My point was that my wife is a forensics junkie and her favorite TV and book forensics guy is Henry Lee.

She lived in Millinocket for a short time when she was little. That's a hundred miles south of here. She sooned moved with her mother to another town after her parent's divorce and her father hasn't lived in the Millinocket area for years.

Anyway, the point of the autopsy is that Lee and Baden have DNA and forensics techniques not available to early 1980's northern/central Maine small town cops and may be able to get leads on a cold case.

The girl disappeared while jogging on school trails at about 8 pm. Looking up more details, I see she wasn't buried, but was found with major head trauma, like someone beat her to death.

Though U.S. Congressman Michael Michaud (D-Maine) lives in East Millinocket.

the other day I saw this german documentary about a murder case in the 80s, and it was solved like 5 years ago, just because what you said, they could investigate again and could review some DNA samples which they kept all the time and now the murderer is in jail.
it was all about him, they visited him in jail and talked about his life in these past years he wasn't caught. he definately didn't enjoy the time...

There was a murder in my neighborhood about ten years ago. A crazy kid beat his mom with a hammer and burned the house down. They built a new house there about 2 years later and other people live there now. I would consider that pretty creepy to be living there. But no forensics were needed in that one.

But I've seen Lee and Baden on tv before. I guess that is sort of a big deal to bring them in to try and solve a case that happened 28 years ago.

Michael Baden has been knuckle deep in more cold vaginas than you can shake a stick at.
