Location: not in the gift shop dept.
I like Pacific Ocean Blue, but other than maybe the lead track it doesn't have any timeless, classic tunes on it like Smile and Pet Sounds. It's just a (albeit surprisingly well written/orchestrated/produced) 70s pop/rock record made by an indulgent druggie with a lot of money.

The above sounds about right, which still puts it above Pet Sounds and Smile IMO. Our difference in opinion has much more to do with how much you love Pet Sounds and Smile than our opinions about Pacific Ocean Blue.

River Song is easily one of my favorite songs in any genre... and probably accounts for much of why I ranked it here. But, I think the rest of the album holds up well against it. Too bad Bamboo never really had a chance to be a great follow up.

I'm already starting to rue the fact I didn't find a place for Ken Wheeler's Windmill Tilter.
