Duane Eddy: Twang Thang

Eddy was one of the most successful instrumental musicians of the late 50s/early 60s era and one of the first popular guitar heroes. He get overshadowed looking back by guys like Link Wray who were more radical and aggressive, although very much less popular at the time. Still, Eddy's signature "twangy" guitar style was a big influence and just creates a great low down sound. Some of the stuff here from his period of working with a string section isn't to my tastes, but there are some gems in the alter tracks like the surf style Trembler and others.

I'm nearly certain that this is not being sung in English, which something I usually insist on. In this case, I don't really care. This is shit hot southern rawk.

I just picked up Apparat's 'Walls', the Fleet Foxes and new Langhorne Slim and they all sound great.

On the train to Busan yesterday I listened to:

Abe Vigoda - Kid City
Jawbox - For Your Own Special Sweetheart

both for the first time.

That Abe Vigoda album is really good.
