This was very rushed. We practiced about 10 times and then recorded this two days before the drummer moved to LA.

Even though some of it doesn't seem finished, it represents the first couple months of the band. Quality isn't wonderful, recorded in a tiny rehearsal space with other loud bands playing through the walls. I sang through a guitar amp.

Enjoy.

Let me know what you think.

I kinda like this.

That spells certain doom for you, though.

(still a mexican) telecaster + 5150 2x12 combo + ibanez tube screamer

im NO FAN of van halen
there is not separate EQs for the two separate channels
i've never been able to get 2 like-able channel sounds at once with this
...just one or the other

but it does has a SUPER gnarly dirty clean channel
which i go pre gain nearly halfway up
[img][650:349]http://www.catswilleatyou.com/expanse/uploads/1221530144_guitarsettings.jpg[/img]
i just go through this MOST of the time... once in a while i boost it with the tube screamer...

i MAY replace tube screamer with this
and i will replace the tele with a USAtele

but in the meantime
i'm REALLY happy with this set up... i've had some other great amps but this one i'm going to run into the ground repeatedly. im going to customize it a bit... take van whatevers name off it.

that sounds very solid, as if you know how to get a modern taste of music put into your own. I like the singing through guitar amp, although this is altogether definately not my favorite style of music. but yeah it sounds somehow fresh, that I like.

Ha!
I can roll with that.
I've really only played with bands that were doomed.

also "for all you middle school niggaz, we have a myspace"

http://www.myspace.com/birdsoundsband

it kind of sucks that in almost every scenario
email accounts / domain names .. "birdsounds" was already taken by companies that record and sell the sounds of winged critters

I definitely hear some of The Fall in there.... via Pavement. And yeah, I do hear some of that (early) Modest Mouse, too.
I like this a lot. Nice work.

Not bad, man. I get a pretty strong Les Savy Fav vibe from some of it.

Thanks!

I've only heard The Fall's Imperial Wax Solvent, and not much else. Pavement I'm really into Slanted and Enchanted but haven't heard a lot beyond that.
Both are bands that I realize I'd enjoy a closer look at, just haven't gotten around to it yet.

Those were really good amps for that mesa-style crunch. One of the best sounding things to wear the dreaded Peavey name. I wanted to buy one from my old boss once, but he would only sell me the head with the 4x12, and I already had a better cab (Marshall 1960A slant). That lead me to the Mesa dual rectifier, eventually, which is a good'n.

I will download this and shit all over it as soon as I can.

that IS a good'n. i almost went with one of those.

my previous setup was a Mesa Nomad 100
and I ran it through two 4 x 12's ... i don't know what I was thinking
way too much to lug around
way too many buttons on the footswitch
a few too many knobs to worry about... kind of a timely dial-in ...that seemed to work really different in every setting
BUT i guess it was fuckin loud, loud is cool

Despite being a much more versatile amp than the peavy, the mesa dual still only sounds reeeally good at the crunch. It's got a passable clean, and some nice british crunch, but when I need good clean I never use it when there's a fender around. Also it weighs a fucking ton.
