I found this debate amusing. I got a recommendation for the wrens from a friend of mine here in b some years ago and I was totally bored.
then I read about neutral milk hotel on some random place on the internet, in several message boards in the u.s. and again, I was totally bored after listening. though I found the latter better.

NMH is better, but it's also more over-hyped.

The irony of this thread is ironic.

I like the NMH album, but agree it is overhyped. Don't like the Wrens

I've listened to Meadowlands a few times, and I was pretty much indifferent about it. I didn't think it was awful, and could see why people like it but that's about it. That NMH album, on the other hand, I love. Hype be damned.

Where's the "Trout Mask Replica" option?

Yeah, what's the context?

Just on here?

Overhyped in terms of people talking about how great it is and then you listening and being underwhelmed?

In real life, I've met one person who'd heard of NMH and nobody who's ever heard of the Wrens. So a slight nod to the former.

All right, that solves that mystery.

If people want to create different identities, I welcome it. Keep it interesting.

This thread fails without the 'In Rainbows' option.

I think the correct answer is Guns N' Roses-Appetite for Destruction

You can't include In Rainbows without including YHF.

Hype only about 50% related to the actual music.

That's true. You'd need stuff like the Strokes and Coldplay too. You could probably have an infinite number of options.
