Although I have been to Houston many times, I have absolutely no recommendations. I recommend picking a different dolphins game.

haha...this is what i'm hearing from real life people too.

my buddy has a pretty good contact with the texans defensive coordinater, so we are pretty hooked up with on-field passes for pre-game and then a suite to watch the game. otherwise, yeah...we wouldn't be going to this one....

and hopefully they get the stadium fixed up by the 12th.

I take it you'll be on the Texans side of the field. Hold your tongue man.

yeah. my buddy went last year with the same hook up...the game where trent green got knocked-the-fuck-out, and he said we can't wear any dolphins gear or anything. it'll be worth it. he got to meet ahman green and got some pretty good pics during pre-game warm ups.

from what i've heard, another 4 or 5 days for the power issues.

the roof on reliant stadium is a whole other issue. i guess it's a strong possibility they'll play their next home game (10/5) at Rice Stadium.

Jason, I remembered I liked Goode Co. BBQ in Houston. Good place for a lunch.

Try Whataburger, that's about as fine dining as houston gets.

that's what i've been lead to believe as well. . . is it smaller than reliant stadium? you might want to check on that.

Let's put it this way, Reliant stadium dwarfs the Astrodome which was considered the "eighth wonder of the world". Rice Stadium is tiny in comparison. As far as I've heard, things are still on to play at Reliant.

As far as recommendations on places to go etc, let me know what part of town you'll be staying in. There's some decent concert venues and I'll look to see if anyone worthwhile will be here.

As far as food goes, you name it we got it. You can't beat the Goode Company mention for barbecue though.

Not bad considering. I live on the southwest side (Sugar Land) and we din't get hit as hard as other areas, mainly uprooted trees and blown over fences. I didn't get any house damage other than losing my back fence. The fences dividing fences in the back between my neighbors and myself are both sitting at about a 70 degree angle from the wind hammering at them for so long. The section of fence I lost was due to the posts snapping in two like twigs.

We were without power for five days, nothing compared to most. We had a cool front blow through right after the hurricane which made sleeping with the windows open somewhat bearable.

The worst is what this has done to the freeways. The HOV lanes were all closed which pushed all traffic to the main lanes. What is normally a 30 minute commute to downtown for me was taking me 2.5 hours. Things were open back up today, so it's a little closer to normal. All of the backroads have traffic lights that are still out, so it only creates long lines since everything is a 4-way stop now.

Cool, you're in a good spot then, close enough to pretty much anything.

On the 11th, there's a Stones tribute band (Satisfaction) playing at the Meridian

Jackopierce is at Warehouse Live
http://www.warehouselive.com/index.cfm? ... ubCalendar

Citizen Cope Solo Acoustic show at Verizon

Cowboy Mouth with the Lifters at the brand new House of Blues

As far as other clubs/bars.. it depends on what you're into. If you spend some time in the Village (around Rice University) there's some decent little bars tucked away in there. Same with Midtown and Downtown.

you have good access to the tittie clubs right there too if that's you're thing...

Treasures or The Gentlemen's Club would be the ideal spots. But I wouldn't know of such things.

I would hit either that or Little Woodrow's.

Houston is massive and spread out. I've only been once, so I'm not an expert, but we drove a lot. Had some awesome Vietnamese food at one of the million or so places on Bellaire, and went to the Menil/Rothko Chapel (Rothko ain't my thing). As I'm sure you've gathered, it probably depends on where you are staying. I've heard downtown basically shuts down at night.
