I like it quite a bit - or, at least, 2/3 of it or so...

It's a pretty good album, and worth picking up @ a decent price...

i like it, but not worth people losing their minds over it. there're points where it drags a lot. i could've sworn i listened to it for an hour and didn't make it through all of it the other day, but i was only on track 6 when i looked at the display. "ageless beauty" is awesome, though.

then again, i haven't bought into too much of the arts & crafts hype. (i still don't have you forgot it in people after bss was a major disappointment live for me.)

it came out a long time in Canada right?

"Set Yourself on Fire"? (I'm sure this album title is going to probably piss off the people who sue Walmart for profanity, etc.)

Ohhhh. I was wondering why people were just starting to discuss it now and Rolling Stone's just now reviewing it and everything.

I'm like "Yes, I bought this album almost half a year ago. I listened to it so much I got sick of it by now. So what's all the commotion?"

I just bought their debut 'Nightsongs', which is my one and only stars album right now. I've heard quite abit of 'Set Yourself On Fire' from www.kexp.org and www.wluw.org and dig it. I'll probably pick up that album and 'heart' sometime in the near future. I'm an Arts&Crafts whore. Although, 'Nightsongs' was put out by some french-canadian label.

BTW, the Star's cover of 'This Charming Man' on Nightsongs is the freggin' bomb diggity-dang-do-da.

I loved Nightsongs and the EP that followed but thought Heart was merely OK. I'm not overly excited about this album. I do like the two songs i've heard on KEXP.
I'll buy this eventually on the sheer strength of their debut.

Just listened to it again. I highly recommend the last song, "Calendar Girl."
I'm also really digging the comeback ep, but really just the first song on it.

I've had this CD for a week now and the jury is still out for me. I liked Heart ok but didn't love it or anything. Right now I'd say I like Heart better than this one but this one has good tracks. I agree that it's good overall but definitely has its slow parts. I don't really understand the rave reviews personally, but it may just be that Stars sound just isn't my thing.

It's a great record. I really like 4 songs on it... the other tracks kind of elude my memory...

But I heard that live they are really minimal and stripped down. On the record you hear all these wonderful strings and horns and textures... but when you get to the club you find a guy with a boombox and a ukelele who does both the male and female voices.

Heart is really solid, and the other two are slightly less interesting versions of the same record. There are many better '05 releases worth having than this. If you are at the record store today and have to choose between this and Bloc Party, I'd go with Bloc Party.

That's where I heard them! I've been racking my brain about this. I'm going to have to revisit that show now because I've been wondering about the Stars.

Actually, to be a total nerd... 'Night Songs' was put out on Le Grand Magistry... French name, yes, but based somewhere in the States.

No, it's all the non-instrumental songs that are worthy of digging, not just the first one.
