One of my friends has become convinced that I look like Micheal Cera (George Michael) so she has been showing me the show, starting with the second season. It's starting to become one of my favorite shows.

In relation to a possible AD movie...

A couple weeks ago I was at a small Q&A with Tony Hale (Buster). He said that so far he has not received any calls about a movie. Of course, this could mean that he is not in it, but that's unlikely. He did say, later on in my face to face conversation, that the mother (can't remember her name) and some of the other cast members have gone on record as saying that they would drop anything they were doing to make an AD movie work, but so far it doesn't sound like it's going to happen for quite some time. He partially blamed it on/suggested it could be because of Michael Cera's popularity right now.

I have one photo on my cell phone of Tony Hale, who is one of the nicest people you'll ever meet by the way, but I couldn't upload for some reason...

Just thought I'd share.

Michael Cera has gone on record saying he doesn't want to do it...

he was one of the best parts of the show, can't do it without him.

Well, I didn't need this news today (or any day for that matter). I thought this was definitely on.

For me it would depend on the reasons. If it is simply because he doesn't want to acknowledge his past, then yes... that is rather douchey. However, there are several valid reasons I could think of that one might not want to do an AD movie.

His douchebaggery is soley determined by how his decision to refuse participation affects me. :)

I think an AD movie would be better for his image than Superbad.

He's basically played the same role in every movie, so I don't see what the big deal would be going back to AD.

Part of the reason that I'm excited about him starring in the upcoming Scott Pilgrim movie. Unless they do some heavy rewriting, it's a drastically un-Cera like character.

And I say that as a big fan of his. Dude has great comedic timing and cracks my ass up. But when most of the cast is gung-ho about doing a movie, hearing that he doesn't want to be a part of it is pretty disappointing.

Michael Cera is great, but someone mentioned (might have been on this board) that he is basically copping Bob Newhart's schtick in every role.

agreeance.

I like how he says that he wouldn't want a movie if he was a fan and why anyone would want if if you could get the three seasons on DVD despite the fact that I think just about every fan of that show would actually want to see a feature.

well, i know I don't speak for all fans but I'm not sure how well AD would translate to a movie...but hey, if they can make it work...great.

But you can't do it without all the original cast and Mitch Hurwitz...

I'm not sure what this means, but most of the people I knew who liked Arrested Development were really dumb.

When is the Pilgrim movie coming out?

As for an AD movie, I'd rather they left the series dead. I love it, but bringing things back rarely succeeds, not to mention all the characters being five years older.

exactly. why are people getting agitated over there not being a movie? how often do tv show-to-movie films work out?

From a CNN.com interview with Cera:

"It would have to be really special, I think, to be worth doing, because I think the show is a nice story that ended nicely, and I'm scared of the idea of disrupting that," Cera said. "It's nice to end on a high note and get out early. It's kind of an instinct, you know. Keep them wanting more."
