The Beatles - Discography (41 Albums)
MP3@320Kbps | Remastered by Dr. Ebbetts
41 Albums | 614 Tracks | TT 1:03:48:51 | iTunes-compliant tags | 4.2 GB

Dr. Ebbetts specializes in releasing digital remasterings from long-deleted and hard-to-obtain vinyl records, particularly issues from the audiophile Mobile Fidelity Sound Labs (MFSL) label. Although the Ebbetts catalogue has many artists, it is most known for Beatles CDs transferred from the best quality MFSL releases, US releases and mono vinyl sources. While lables like Millenium, BEAT, Mirror Spock and Fabulous Sound Labs (FSL) also issue 'needle drops' of Beatles vinyl, Dr. Ebbetts is regarded by many audiophiles as being the highest quality. For those interested in the technical, one source close to the Dr says that Ebbetts says that he uses no noise reduction and that there's no magic formula...just a good ear and patience.

If not, it should be.

I have several of the Ebbetts-made transfers. They're pretty good, but I wasn't bowled over by the SQ like some.

i think the version i had were stereo, but i don't know if they were us or uk or what is the "best."

you could definitely hear instruments you can't hear on the CD versions.

On mp3? Why bother.

Are they available in FLAC format?

Christ, all those rapidshare files. I'll be dead before they're finished downloading.

FLAC sucks.

it's an annoying, large file format. Hi BR MP3 is perfectly fine.

whoa whoa

FLAC is the perfect storage format. lossless AND compressed, perfect as backup. sound quality may only be slightly improved, but its the closest thing to a source file that you will want to keep on your comp.

nice up btw dalen. i think i have most of these but ill probably grab it anyway.

Search the torrent sites and you can find these in FLAC if you're interested.

And yeah, FLAC is way better than MP3 if you listen on more than headphones or crappy computer speakers. If you're going for the best sound quality possible, which seems to be the point of these transfers, why not go all the way?

The 5 I have are flac, and I agree with nobody about gooing with as good as you can get if you're serious about wanting to listen to them.

As for stereo/mono, my opinion (and that's ALL it is- I'm no Beatles aficionado):

Anything before Rubber Soul- mono
Rubber Soul- toss-up
Anything after Rubber Soul (with the exception noted below)- stereo
Magical Mystery Tour is such a sonic disaster, I don't think it matters.

The US/UK thing, I don't have enough experience to say, but from what I'm told, the UK issues were generally better.
