flaming lips - 4
roots - 3

a ton of bands twice and about a shitload once. these days, once is usually more than enough for me.

Phil Keaggy - 5 (ridiculously good live... I can't really bother with his CDs anymore because after his live show they just feel unimportant)

The Violet Burning - 4 (Always bring it, even when they're playing a small doctor's office lobby with only 20 people there)

mewithoutYou - 7 (Interesting watching their live show evolve over the years. Unfortunately, with the popularity they acquired after their most recent album (which is getting too old, guys... how about some new material?), their crowd is now close-to unsufferable. Shame when that happens, even though the band still rocks.)

note: all counts are minimum... could be higher as I have a bad memory for shows. But that number is the number of specific instances I remember seeing them. So it definitely isn't less than that count.

Sheesh, I've seen way too many bands more than a couple of times:

Radiohead
Underworld
U2
Cure
Siouxsie and the Banshees
Franz Ferdinand
Travis
Mogwai
The Rakes
Editors
Arcade Fire
Peter Gabriel
Roxy Music
Spoon

the list goes on...

Well, you know who 15 times.

Other than that, Mike Doughty 5 or 6 times (I missed out on seeing Soul Coughing, which bums me out).

Elvis Perkins, 3 and many at 2.

Same here. Nothing earth changing, but always fun. A great excuse to drink tequila. And hate myself the next day. They played an old bowling alley here last week.

Besides that,
Old 97's-7 or so times.
DBT-4
Calexico-3 or 4.
Smaller regional bands like Aqueduct,Ester Drang,Starlight Mints, and Unwed Sailor 4 or 5 times each too. Cross Canadian Ragweed too,but not a huge fan.
And I've probably traveled to see half of those shows, although better shows are finally showing up here.
