I was actually going to start a thread opposite of this. I called my local record store to see if they got it in this Tuesday, and they didn't. That's at least the third new release in the past month they haven't received on time.

I don't mind paying a few extra bucks to support the local stores, but I've been going straight to Best Buy when they don't get shit in the day it's released. Lucky for them Best Buy didn't have it either, but I'm dying to hear this album.

Saw 'em last night. Eric's comment: "Our new CD is out today. We've got copies for sale at the merch table...if you don't buy one, we'll slit your throat."

I'll have to pick this up for sure. Their last album had that one song "call to love" on it. That thing got stuck in my head and stayed there for about 4 or 10 months I think.

Haha... this is great. I'm excited to see them next week.

While record stores are great to stroll through, digital = free, which always wins in my book.

I thought that the story on this record was that he was only selling it at something like 30 stores across the country, at his shows, or online. I didn't even try to look for it in stores.

I know what you mean, one song has almost the same chord progression.

I've been rocking on "Your Control" and nothing else.

yeah, 'your control' is off the hook. i think this could be the best crooked fingers record out there. it's most similar to dignity and shame but i feel like it has a much better flow over the entire record and then having neko at the end is a serious trump card.

The record store will ALWAYS trump digital. IMO.

Thanks for the heads up. I need to get on that CF record.

Saw them opening for Okkervil River last night. Besides a random song or two online I had only hear of them and I spent their entire set wanting to like them, but never quite getting there.

Is there something specific I should listen to that might make me get it? Because by all accounts, they are a band I should like very much.

Is their music still pretty much the opposite of Archers of Loaf?

I love browsing through the stacks at brick and mortar stores and at thrift shops

I'm willing to pay a little more to keep these people in business but if I absolutely can't find something there I must have (rarely happens) I'll get it online.

The record store is an aging dinosaur that couldn't die sooner.

Especially the indie ones. No, you aren't running an art gallery. There is no integrity to be had here. You have no connections to any of the shit you are selling, you are running a business, fuckhead.

This shit is available the world over, quit acting like it isn't.

Innovate. Fuck.

innovate? what are you talking about dude? you sound like someone who got their feelings hurt by a record store employee. ok, so you feel intimidated in there because someone has a funny haircut or something, but it is crazy to say that indie record stores suck.
