The celebrations are raging wild in the streets of Philly tonight, and they've been a long time coming! 15 years is a long time to wait, though I know that plenty of other teams have waited a lot longer. But being a fan for the last 19 years of my life its hard to hide or squelch the enthusiasm. Hopefully this is the year that they can put another championship banner up next to the one from 1980.

And yeah I know that TheTheory already posted about this in the ALCS thread, but I felt like it deserved its own. Didn't mean to hijack, he's been waiting a long time too.

When he moved out of the rotation. Innings-eater, can be a long-man when the starter gets blasted after 1 2/3, & can stymie 'most any attempt at a rally when put in to serve as bandillero to Lidge's matador.

Really, he became awesome when they started limiting him to an inning plus of work per game. Keep him in too long and his fastball starts to lose zip, making his changeup less effective. Thus triggering the mudslide to mistakes and blown saves.

maybe you were talking to the wrong people.
philly is definitely an Eagles-first town, and more over the top stupid about them, but the Phillies fan base is always there.

perhaps, ALL of my friends were huge Eagles fans, but no one around me ever seemed to talk about the Phillies. I never heard anyone go "hey, put the phillies game on" at a bar...even just walking around, i rarely saw anyone in Phillies garb.

it just seems like everyone's a fairweather fan now.

The whole thing feels kind of unreal to me. It hasn't really sunk in. And it might not until the first game. I do wish I was somewhere watching the game last night with other Philly fans... somehow sitting alone at home fails to really make the experience too engaging.

Still, I was excited enough to make the rash move of purchasing one of those awesome Grey Phillies Postseason hoodies off of mlb.com. That will be a beautiful sight to behold.

There is no doubt at all that the Eagles come first. The clinching game against the Brewers had half as many viewers as the Eagles loss to the Redskins (the games were on at the same time.)

The Phillies are always on at the bar I frequent, with people clapping when appropriate.

I liken the Philly going bonkers for the Phillies to Boston going bonkers for the Patriots.

Actually not true....

I was all Yankees till they got eliminated.
Then I was 100% Dodgers cause of Torre & Mattingly.
Now I am all Phillies.

I could never ever ever root for another American League team in the WS.

Hell, I rooted for the Mets like a fan boy in 1986.

Oh, I didn't mean this is what you actually meant. I was simply using your quote to express my opinion. Didn't mean to imply you were somehow on the bandwagon or something.

Actually had a ticket to game 6 in Philly if there was one...but gladly forgot about it as soon as last night's game started.

Now, about those World Series tickets...

Are you sure you're not confusing Philly with Atlanta?
