When are the Philly sports venues going to start playing 'Freedom Of '76" (by Ween) over the P.A.?

Yeah..I know.."A ho on South St Hired for tricks; little girls picking up sticks..."

For the 7 years I've been here, I've always thought the Phils had a solid, loyal fan base. Maybe you didn't notice them because they aren't nearly as obnoxious as Eagles fans.

And a winning team always brings in fair weather fans, no matter what city you're in.

I'm surprised to hear that...really

not as surprising as me in a baseball thread, but surprising.

2003 was also the year they signed Jim Thome. Fans went nuts that year.

despite my comment, i hope they win anyways...

That was also during the Ed Wade years where they wouldn't spend any loot and tried to fool the fans that they could contend with the crap they had on the roster..It's not some front runner stuff, it's just people are cautious and sick of trying to be fooled by the organization..This is the same organization that lost it's 10,000 th game recently and they still had almost 4 million fans to the park this year, before they made the playoffs..

I've been here before, Phils 93, Flyers 97, SIxers in 2000, and the Eagles in the Sb in 04..All wne to the finals and lost...I'll streak if they win the WS, but they still have 4 more wins to go..They didn't win shit yet.

2003 was the year the team decided to finally spend money due to the new stadium opening in 2004. If you recall, they signed Jim Thome and traded for Kevin Millwood in 2003. They've had a payroll of over $90M ever since.
