I never have time to listen to vinyl anymore. For that reason I've mostly stopped buying it.

I just can't afford to buy music anymore. But, when I do, it's almost 98% from Amazon, 2% in store.

I still go in the record stores when I'm bored at a mall or looking to kill time but I can never find anything music-related. I went into three music stores and a bookstore the other day and couldn't find the recent Why? album so I gave up, came home, and ordered it. Same thing with the new Peanuts dvd box.

I'd say 80% local stores, 15% Best Buy and 5% online.

online - 50%
at shows - 20%

i usually download everything first to check it out.

If I could move mine into my office and blast it all day long, it'd increase its use a millionfold.

nowadays...

80% = emusic
the rest of the 20% is between amazon mp3 purchases, ebay/half.com & best buy cds.

for those of you who buy from iTunes, check out amazon's mp3 store. it's higher quality mp3s for the same or lower prices.

Less than 5% b&m (also Amoeba) and the rest online (emusic/Amazon).

75% CDs from Amazon, Amazon Marketplace, Half.com, eBay, and labels (mostly just Dischord and Merge, for whatever reason)

20% CDs from "real" record stores (any Reckless, Permanent Records, Lauries, a few others once in a while - the one store by me closed a while back (Music Recyclery)

5% digital from eMusic, Amazon, and Amie Street

Probably 95% online and 5% from stores. The only decent store around here is about half an hour up the coast and not worth the gas.

I buy online from amazon, deepdiscount, sometimes ebay or half.com. I would never use itunes or emusic.

I basically only buy music online as digital downloads. When I moved in September, I bit the bullet and threw out all of my jewel cases, acknowledging that they are essentially valueless, and that I had kept them in boxes for 3 years and had no interest in displaying them. I don't want any more of them and try as I might, I'm just not an audiophile. 256kbps is plenty for me. I try to find the album on emusic, then to buy downloads from the band or label, and if those don't work I download from Amazon.

This is pretty much where I'm at. We're making room for the triplets, so I packed away all the cds and sent them to storage. And I'm not an audiophile either and I really can't tell the difference between the digital formats out there.

I think Amazon's downloading service is the best thing going. Lots of great deals to be had.
