I've seen some bad movies in my life, but Step Brothers was, without exaggeration, the worst movie I've ever seen.

Touch of Evil - Pretty good. It's hard imagining Charleston Heston as a Mexican though. Every time I saw him it took me out of the plot. But Orson Wells has to be one of the best actors ever. I think that's lost in the Citizen Kane hype. His Quinin (sp) is shear awesomeness.

What Happens in Vegas - Terrible for what it is.

How To Lose Friends and Alienate People...not bad actaully, it had its faults, but I enjoy watching Simon Pegg too much to dismiss this.

I was unable to make it through that movie, and I think it was the first Wells that I ever tried to watch. Heston was just to much for me. Given how much I really did love Citizen Kane when I finally saw it, though, I've been meaning to give it another chance.

Heston is pretty unbelievable as a Mexican. However, it's still interesting the movie depicts a Mexican man married to a blonde white woman (even if said Mexican man is actually a known white guy). It was made in 1958.

Also, the opening shot is one of the most talked about single takes out there. It is pretty impressive, especially since this was before steadicam. It's sad Welles always had so much trouble getting things made after Citizen Kane. A big "what if"...

Yeah, this is actually why I starting watching it in the first place. I was looking for movies that had long tracking shots for reference for something I was working on, and this one is pretty legendary.

I also watched Altman's The Player because it has a similar shot at the beginning (done in homage to Touch of Evil, I think) which is also pretty impressive. Good movie, too.

Saw 30 Days of Night a few days ago. Definitely not a great movie but not as bad as the poor reviews it received when it came out. It was better than I expected.

I seriously find that hard to believe, but then again I have not seen it. It can't be that bad.

I watched a bunch of docs. on disc 2 for Ironman. I'm glad I decided to spend the extra $5 and get the double disc.

-Videodrome - I really wanted to like this movie, but it just didn't do it for me.

Best summation of the late 60's I've ever read in my life. Seriously.

Anybody see Body of Lies this weekend? I'm thinking I might try to catch it one night this week.

That's some hyperbole here. What about Brazil? That was much worse. Same with The Big Lebowski, Withnail & I, Gosford Park, oh I think I can come up with a few more.

Yeah, what about Citizen Kane, Dumpjack? And The Godfather? And Goodfellas and Taxi Driver? Horrible, horrible movies. I'm sure I can come up with more.

The latter three are great, never saw Citzen Kane. Don't really care for old movies.

Brazil and The Big Lebowski are great movies, too. Talk about ridiculous hyperbole. Gosford Park wasn't really bad, either.

I guess I get what you were trying to do with specifically attacking stuff DDR likes, but come on. What's the point? I'm sure Step Brothers is pretty awful.

Actually, I'm not attacking DDR at all. If he likes Brazil or Lebowski that's incidental. I just mentioned a few movies that I sincerely think are terrible. The former I shut off a third of the way through, because I thought it was arty nonsense. The latter I've talked about in this thread already. If my wife wasn't enjoying Gosford Park I would have shut it off as well because it literally made me angry watching. Step Brothers while immature and filled with crude humour at least made me laugh a few times.

2 nights at Pinewood this weekend:

Jules Et Jim - I may never see a more French movie: "Hey, let's pass this lady between us whenever she's in the mood to switch, and we can stay best friends." Guh?!? That said, Truffaut's direction is fantastic, and the performances were solid.

Gone Baby Gone - Great performances from Harris, Freeman, Madigan, and Casey Affleck. Much more morally ambiguous than I initially expected, which is always good for a few bonus points. A lot of the film really worked well, and it kinda hiccuped in the second half. Still, it seems Ben understands his long-term future in the industry is behind the camera (possibly more in writing than direction, but we'll see). I'm just annoyed it took him this long to figure that out.

RE Touch of Evil: The Heston-as-Mexican did bring some serious lolz for me. The only Welles I've seen are that and ...Kane, and what impressed me most about both of them were Orson's performances and the cinematography.

Before the Devil Knows You're Dead - Pretty tight thriller. Philip Seymour Hoffman was awesome as usual. Ethan Hawke was annoying, but I guess that was the point. Story was kinda brutal.

Also, I liked seeing Marissa Tomei get nakey.

I think that saying any of those movies are worse than Step Brothers is the real hyperbole in this situation. Even if you aren't a fan...come on.

Also, I love Brazil, and I know some pretty all-around stupid people who like it as well...I wouldn't say it's arty nonsense.

i watched Zellig last night as step one of my conscience decision to start liking Woody Allen. I found it more interesting than entertaining. On first viewing it dragged at parts, but i've been thinking about it a lot, which leads me to believe it's a grower.

I'm sure that if one sampled the opinion of a 100 movie fans, nearly all would agree that almost any movie would be better than 'Step Brothers. However, if you asked just me I'd say I like that retarded Will Ferrell flick better than 'Brazil' et al. because I turned the other ones off I hated them so much.

max payne - it started okay but turned really ridiculous about 15-20 minutes in. there were a bunch of non-intentional laughs, the best among them being donal logue's "death" photo. and ogla kurylenko is super hot. luckily, it was free.

the foot fist way - i enjoyed it and laughed a bit but it seemed to drag a little near the end. danny mcbride is great, as usual.

eagle eye - this movie is so dumb and made almost no sense. i'm glad that i snuck into it instead of paying.

how to lose friends and alienate people - it was okay. it seemed like it didn't go over the top enough, except for one scene. i like simon pegg but he needs to get back to doing movies with edgar wright and nick frost, which apparently won't be until 2010. bonus points for megan fox.

outlaw - kind of meh. i like sean bean and danny dyer but dyer was pretty much wasted in this role. sean harris is creepy though and lennie james and rupert friend were good. it's good if you've got nothing better to do.

gimme skelter - really low budget. it's about charles manson's apparent son and the town he's intent on slaughtering. started off ok but got boring. i wouldn't recommend it.

walk hard - there were some really funny parts but most of it was like 'meet the spartans' bad. i like john c. reilly but he can do way better than this. the songs weren't bad though.

the happening - i was expecting to hate it but i sort of liked it. wahlberg isn't very good in it and it veers into ridiculousness sometimes but overall it wasn't bad. zooey deschanel = hot

I mean Danny Mcbride is genius, but the movie was pretty awful.
