Saw some of their albums on a blog and I'm curious. Figured obners might have some insight. Worth it? Which albums? etc.

I would suggest treading lightly. The first Cockney Rebel album (Human Menagerie) was probably their best, in a sub-Bowie/Roxy Music sorta way, and The Best Years of Our Lives had the song "Make Me Smile" on it, which is easily the best Steve Harley song out there. Apart from the title track, Psychomodo is kinda hard to take.

The double live album Face to Face from '77 picks pretty much all of his best songs from those early years (read: pretty much all his best songs ever), and the sound quality is great, but the live version of "Make Me Smile" is either ruined or perfected by an extended audience singalong, depending on your tolerance for such things.

You might like some of the stuff on this site. http://frisiansotherfavorites.blogspot.com/

Some of it comes straight out of the Radcliffe record collection.

holy shit, what an awesome blog. I have those two Eastwood soundtracks, but they're shitty rips. I've wanted to get a good version of 'I'll Wake You Up when I Get Home' forever and a day.

thanks tanner.

i endorse Steve Harley - i have a "best of" compilation that is pretty good. Although nothing touches "Make me Smile," but then again not much does.

I was joking in chatzy last week that I was going to send you the links those Eastwood soundtracks. I would have actually have done it if I realized you were really looking for them.

Some friends (one from the UK, one from Australia) were bantering bait about this guy.
Posted this clip and I liked it: sounded like late-70s Nick Lowe and Rockpile.

I wanna investigate.
Did a search and dug up this old thread.
Anybody else have anything that they want to add about this guy and this band?
The earlier stuff sounded really glammy. AllMusic seems to think that The Psychomondo is their best album, but Rads: you disagree?
Would love to see some more discussion. Thanks!
