That should look cool. I just bought a 55 gallon so I'm excited about putting it together.

What kind of fish does your dad plan on getting, Chase?

i dunno. either a red-tailed catfish or just a shitload of tangs i'd imagine, that what we've always had. i don't think that he's decided on salt or freshwater yet. i pushed for lobsters but mom was against it.

I recommend something like this. They're pretty small but are great for your semi-aggressive community tank.

my friend used to catch a bass from the lake, put it in tank, and try and catch it again.
my other friend had some badass piranha's. i just had goldfish that I won at the fair and died a week later.

I'd love to get a tank set up again but I keep moving too much.

all my goldfish kept dying a few days after i bought them, so after I sepnt $20 on goldfish in a month, the wifey-poo cut me off.

I loved having them, and I bet the boy would really dig it.

Come to think of it, he would probably climb up and try to get them out and make a huge mess.

Timmy, this would be perfect for you. It's already all set up for you, with a filter, light, etc. all in the cover. And best of all, there's hardly no maintenance.

I love having fish, especially native fish displays, but for right now I have

5 Gastrophryne olivacea (Narrowmouthed toads)
1 Bufo punctatus (Red-Spotted Toad)*
3 Syrrophus marnocki (Cliff Chirping Frogs)*
1 Eumeces tetragrammus brevilineatus (Short-Lined Skink)*

*Just collected this past weekend, doomed to genetic analysis and Natural History Museum collections (if I can bring myself to drug 'em to death).

I wouldn't call myself a hobbyist but I've got a beta fish at home. He lives in a 2.5 gallon set-up. I've had him for 9 months or so now and he seems to be as healthy as can be. I named him Spike.

I used to have a 65 gallon tank, but after we moved we didn't have room. Now we just have a 20gal, which is nice but limits what you can do/fish you can keep.

Also - The larger the tank, the easier it is to keep fish healthy and alive. Cleaning the tank sucks no matter what the size, so if you have the room and money I suggest going for the largest tank you can.

Chris, I had missed your post. That looks perfect.

I may however get a beta, and put him in a bowl. That sounds cheaper. :P

Have you ever held a mirror up to the beta and watched it flare up? that is neat-o.

I'd like to get a fish tank but I don't know where I'd fit it in my room.
