This is true.

I guess I could ask her if we could head up the Boulder branch of the Co Dem party and let the games begin.

.......death ensues.

Isn't the Party HQ in LoDo? We could whoop, and shuck, and possibly step high.

I've been at my "new" job for almost a year now. If anyone recalls, it was a position that I had to interview and qualify for (promotion from within). This year it's been tough, but I've persevered, yet have been working hard to get more money out of it (bonuses, client referral fees, etc). But, my travelling and music needs require additional funding. Becoming a councilmember might do the trick! ;)

I started mine back in December, so it's still pretty new... I work in Internet Marketing, so I have to weed through affiliate advertising applicants, answer a public email folder (!), track about $55k a day in sales through affil channels, and then spend 4 days or so a month recapping the previous month. It's a very nice company to work for, very cushy, and the work is new enough that it's still interesting-ish. It won't be forever, but then there are a lot of chances to move up. I had to take a retail gig to get in the door, too, which sucked schwetty balls. But it paid off.

Thanks!

re: thread topic, I got it by going back to school and slaving away at near-poverty wages for five years, plus real work on schmoozing abilities.

The suspense is killing me, BJW. What's the new title, and will you frame & hang your degree in your cube/office?

Oh, and congratulations.

I think it's bad form to hang the degree in the office. Maybe I'll hang it at home. Or is that weird?

I *wish* I was a "new hire." I didn't get that one job I was going for because I don't have my degree (even though I'm working on it). So, there goes all my hopes and dreams down the tube until I get this stupid fuckin piece of paper which is taking me forever. Until then... I'm stuck here doing the SAME shit I've been doing for the past 3 years.

Keep the faith sister. It's just a game, but like Dylan says "The masters make the rules, for the wisemen and the fools" you gotta play their game. It'll be worth it when you are done and get the dream job. Just don't go out like many of us, and graduate and settled for some boolshit. ;)

I got dismissed out-of-hand for a few positions for lack of a degree...
I've had my degree for a while now, despite a long lag time in taking one last class...
And, since I've had it, I haven't even thought of applying for something else - at least, until after I see what my raise/review is going to be like this year...

It's who you know, more than what degree you have. The only reason I got my job (even after I blew a lot of money on a MA) is because my boss at my uni. job knew someone who needed someone.
