Album: Vitalogy

Songs:

Rearviewmirror
Leash
Spin the Black Circle
Not For You

It's been too long since I listened to Pearl Jam to pick a fifth song. Probably one of: Last Exit/Off He Goes/Given to Fly/Corduroy

The four album run of Vs, Vitalogy, Yield and No Code rules but Vs is still my pound for pound favorite.

Songs:
Corduroy
Rats
Off He Goes
Hail, Hail
State of Love and Trust

though that could just as easily go five different ways...

i can't think of another band "like" pearl jam. their career arc and fan base are unique.

Admittedly, I don't know a TON about PJ. Is that song on any album besides the Singles soundtrack?

Ten is the only album of theirs i've ever owned, but from being around fans my two favorites are "state of love and trust" and "yellow ledbetter"

I am sorta in the same category as you. I think I have Vitalogy somewhere though as well. I really like "Release" in addition to the two mentioned above.

used to love them, can't listen to them without cringing anymore...

vitalogy still has a few good moments...Ten and VS sound horribly dated.

On one hand, they ruined alternative rock and paved the way for bands like Matchbox 20...on the other hand, if all those shitty bands hadn't come along, I wouldn't have switched to college radio...tough call.

so top 5
spin the black circle
corduroy
state of love and trust
Black
Crazy Mary

If you asked me again tomorrow, though, it'd probably be different.

I'd have to get Black and maybe Yellow Ledbetter in here, but we are in accordance on the album, and in general on these songs.

Not a go to band for me, but I enjoy them when I here the songs not from Ten :)

I could pretty much use your list as mine. Not really sure about what songs I'd pick (outside of those top 2 + Red Mosquito), but no question about the album.

Album: No Code

Songs:
Hail, Hail
Corduroy
Red Mosquito
Long Road
Oceans

Actually, from recently playing Guitar Hero, I found that I liked "Evenflow" a lot more than I remembered.

This was THE band for me through my late teens and I still keep up with them today. They were that band that grabs onto you and from there on out earns a lifetime free pass for subsequent missteps. I became obsessed with Pearl Jam during those years - buying up every recording I could find including import bootlegs (this was before torrents and blogs, mind you), going out of state to see shows, the whole nine yards. That's probably the main reason I don't listen to them a ton anymore - I just simply drove a lot of those songs into the ground. To this day the opening chords of "Daughter" elicit a Pavlovian pee response in me since that's when I would look for the nearest bathroom at a show and hence not miss anything good while I was gone. Anyway,

Favorite album: Yield

Songs: Breath
Release
Thin Air
In Hiding
Love Boat Captain

I'm surprised that anyone could still pick "Daughter," "Evenflow," "Black," "Jeremy," "Alive," etc.

I've heard them enough for about sixteen lifetimes and I was only like 3 years old when they came out.

i agree, im pretty tired of the songs off of Ten, although i loved the album when it came out. I dont know why alternative radio only really plays those songs and the brilliance of No Code and Yield gets short shift.

interesting that no one has selected the recent self titled album as their favorite. Critics hailed it as a return to form - but i dont agree, i dont think it comes close to the brilliance of No Code or Yield.
