Someone at a Prop 8 protest around here had a sign that said "Jesus had 2 daddies!" I've been trying to figure it out ever since...

Anyone care to explain?

Right. I forgot about the whole Joseph twist to the story. I'm clearly not up-to-date on my Bible knowledge anymore.

Shit, I just realized I have to schedule 3 more vacation days this year or I lose them. Looks like I'm taking half of December off.

my boss alerted me to my remaining days in october. even after taking off literally half of december, i still need to find one day off. i think that'll be easy enough.

California considers a "use it or lose it" vacation policy illegal. Probably the reason why I have over 5 weeks of vacation available to me at the moment.

Whaaa.... I need some sort of verification/document for this - maybe I can get back some of the days (weeks?) that I've "not accrued" over the past few years...

Dude, I work in HR, I know this as fact -- vacation is an accrued benefit and it cannot be taken away if you don't use it. In California, an employer can apply a maximum accrual (usually 1.75 times your annual accrual). I can review your employer's vacation policy if you want.

Btw, do you belong to a union?

No union, but this would've been time past my max. accrual amount (180-240 hours, depending on the time).

Ahh...okay, makes sense then. Gotta use those vacation hours! There are employers who allow you to cash them out if you don't plan on using them. Might be worth asking.

This has been your Obner Community Service Announcement.

My friend is a Pharmacist for Sam's Club. He has the use it or lose it vacation stuff.

I work for a non-profit, private university and I can accrue up to 6 weeks worth of vacation before it just stops accruing. I would hate to work for a place that offers vacation days that then does not allow you to accrue them.

I had a dream in which (among other things, probably) someone told me to take a stick of butter out of the refrigerator.

This morning there was a stick of butter sitting on the stove. I guess I was going to bake a cake or something.

they didn't really test that mohawk for longevity at all
dude still needs to go to a show, circle pit, etc., long night of keg stands... sleep on couch ... get up and fix it and start his next day. maybe have dinner with girlfriends parents or ride around on a 3 story bike
IMO. not a mohawk. FAKE.

Here is your first glimpse at what appears to be Johnny Depp as he'll look in Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland. Depp is playing the Mad Hatter and he'll appear alongside co-stars Anne Hathaway, Helena Bonham Carter, Michael Sheen, Mia Wasikowska, Matt Lucas, Crispin Glover, Stephen Fry and Alan Rickman.

It's pretty ghey.

Burton's latest is written by Linda Woolverton and based on the Lewis Carroll classic "Alice in Wonderland." The film will combine performance-capture imagery, currently seen in Beowulf, with live-action footage. Look for it in theaters on March 5, 2010.
