YouTube recommendation stolen from My Morning Jacket - William Devaughn:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dx72QvLTXOk

I am thankful for:

. an amazing job that has allowed me wonderful opportunities
. being a homeowner
. beautiful friends
. the family that I do, even if it's just a few of us left
. the reality of finally having my own children
. not being poor
. some damn cool friends made from Obner, yeah even those of you who are less than cool

Happy Thanksgiving, everyone!

Tania, did you actually get the kids yet, or are things in process?

I am thankful for being alive, when much of my life's history was monumentally destructive. This is all borrowed time.

I am thankful for a loving partner, who puts up with my nostalgic whinge-fest of arrogant bleating, and agreed to marry me, if but for the brief time it was legal.

I am grateful for Obama and his election. Much of it felt (to this old fart) like Robert Kennedy's unfinished story.

I am grateful to music... the whole of the moon.

Agreed, with the exception of a couple posters' kids, the Obner children are adorable.

I'm thankful this country got it right on Nov. 4 and appears to be starting its journey back in the right direction.

I'm thankful my family is all in good health and for the most part happy and secure.

I'm thankful I got out of N. Mississippi (erm, I mean Michigan) and in so doing had a relatively easy and pleasant transition.

I'm thankful to have great friends like Phil and Deena, and the whole ATX Obner crew, who have warmly welcome a newcomer.

I'm thankful to now live in a city I know will allow me to fully flourish, even if at present I feel like I'm only kind of marking time.

I'm with you on this one, Harry. But, I'm still trying as hard as I can.

Nothing I can equate to in this, no matter what.

My jury's still out on this one.

I am thankful for:
My wife - without her and her love I am nothing. I was a rotten miserable sonofabitch before I met her, and though I remain rotten, I am never miserable knowing I have her.

My career - I won a campaign for a Democrat in the toughest competitive district in the country. Even the SOB will never understand or appreciate what I did for him, it is opening doors and opportunities and was a great learning experience that pushed my skills further than even I understood or believed they could go.

America - Warts and all, you cannot deny the greatness and potential possessed in this country and it's opportunity for merit based advancement.

My family - I am within 100 miles of both my parents, and even though I have to act like the adult 98% of the time, I am grateful they are both still alive and kicking.

My bro-in-law's safe return from W's Dance in the Desert - not sure if he and sister will last through all of this, but I am thankful that he is coming home in one piece and for his advice and counsel through my chaotic years.

All of these things added up to make me the monster I always knew I could become.
