I'm pretty tempted to buy a PS3 for $350. I'm kind of turned off by the fact that newer models aren't backwards compatible, so I wouldn't be able to stock up on cheap used PS2 games.

the 80gb packaged with metal gear solid has full backwards compatibility.

Damn, those seem to go for a lot more money. Since I don't actually own any PS2 games, it doesn't seem worth it.

Well, with Gamestop's "buy-2-get-1 free" deal, I acquired...

Eternal Sonata
Fable II
Fallout 3
Grid
Ninja Gaiden II

and
Project Gothem Racing 4

Overall I'm quite pleased with the score, although my wallet disagrees.

I decided to buy a PS3 from Amazon. Hopefully "open box unit" doesn't mean broken.

I stopped by Gamestop, but it was kind of a mess in there. The sale goes on until Sunday. Any chance the crowds won't be as bad Saturday and Sunday? I've got a gift card with $10 or so on it I'd like to use.

That is the hope... or, rather, the hope that it will distract me from my pathetic social life/lack of luck with females. Yayy.

It works.

Big fan of both of these. Also, seconds on Mass Effect, Braid, Puzzle Quest, and Portal. If you can find BioShock on the cheap, it's definitely worth it.

Sort of relevant to this thread:

Is it possible to hook up a PS2 to a computer monitor? Do they make an adapter or something that I can use?

It should be $30 or less at any big box store. Great game.

I don't know if Sony makes one, but adaptors are available: link
