how'd you end up feeling about this? I loved this movie in college. it must have been one of the few VHSs we had in the house because i watched it a hundred times.

RLYY? This movie sucks a dick.

And why the fuck would you even consider watching Tropic Thunder?

Good movie.

Watched Hellboy II (well, i'm an hour into it, but I'm going to bed. So far, not too bad.

And yes, I liked Tropic Thunder.

last house in the woods - kind of an italian giallo/torture porn movie. i enjoyed it even though it was really low budget.

Yeah I was sort of 50/50 on this. Definitely had its moments. I recently saw Bava's Bay of Blood which I liked more although I don't know why quite honestly.

Others:

Mirrors - it was ok
The Ruins - ugh
Transsiberian - except for that action sequence at the end...liked it
The Cottage - liked this

...and although not a movie, the funniest thing I've seen recently is Season 1 of Frisky Dingo

Tropic Thunder started off funny but got stupid really fast. The Tom Cruise parts were some of the most cringeworthy moments ever put to film.

It kind of loses the original charm after the first few "dinner parties" just because of repetition but I still really enjoyed it. Way, way better than I was expecting when I happened to turn it on Ondemand.

agreed. Some of the people I know that saw it were flabbergasted that I didn't enjoy his character, "BUT IT'S SOOOO DIFFERENT FROM WHAT TOM CRUISE NORMALLY DOES". *sigh*

I'm not a huge horror buff, but I like to dable, and this was well done for the most part. I think Eli Roth is huge tool, but this was a pretty fun movie. Some good gross out stuff, some good camp, the fingerbang misfire was pretty good, it was worth a viewing.

Watched the Orphanage last night. It was good but the ending was sad and a little unsatisfying. Still I'd recommend it.

Watched this last night. I liked the ambiguity.

Last Supper would rank among the worst movies I've seen.

Watched Tropic Thunder last night and beside Tom Cruise, I liked the movie. His 'dance' was what sucked for me - otherwise, he was entertaining and fit the movie.

The rest of it cracked me up. And yes, I was high since that seems to be an important point to some.

I tried to watch Christmas on Mars and just couldn't get into it. The whole time I just kept thinking that Eraserhead already did this and did it better.

I also recently watched Poultry-geist (from TROMA) and REALLY enjoyed it. Even for a TROMA flick, it was ridiculous but intensely funny. The satire in it was ham-fisted (or maybe beak-fisted) but pretty well done.

I finally got around to watching 'Cannibal Holocaust' and can only say 'meh'. I get why it was so traumatizing to people and yes, I can see how people may have thought it was an actual snuff film, but overall - 'meh'. Some great scenes of gore and the woman on the spit was pretty well done, but there's really no reason for a movie like that to exist. It's in the same boat as something like 'Funny Games'.

You can make the point about people being 'evil' or 'misguided' and 'only in it for the money' without that level of rape and gore.

Yes the movie is stupid, but I still liked it.
Re-watchable.

Tomorrow:
Hancock - I'm not too sure about this one.

Cannibal Holocaust is utter garbage. I'm sorry but I'm not impressed by the actual killing of animals for the sake of art...it's despicable. I disagree that Funny Game is in the same boat however. I'm not being combative but respectfully disagree. Funny Games is all about a mind fuck and anything that takes us there goes far beyond gutting turtles on film.

i only own 17 troma films and that's not enough for me. these movies are amazing. certain ones (like the make your own damn movie! ones) really suck because they have such a low budget, but are funny on a shittier level.

i think the gore is hilarious, i love it how pretty much all of the plots are similar in the biggest troma films. nerd strikes back type of shit. and they use the same car crash scene in the majority of their films. it's awesome.

i love troma. so fucking good. i think they'd be complete weirdos to meet in real life, and i doubt i could handle being around them for long, but they make great movies.

terror firmer reminds me of a more fucked up gore filled john waters film.
